Count one more massive failure for Mayor Funky and a bit of good news for Kansas City given that putting this town in even more debt for a vague political plan is pretty pointless.
Over at KMBC I think DeAnn Smith had the most comprehensive write up:
"No one on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee made a motion to put the initiative on the Aug. 3 ballot. Funkhouser wants voters to authorize $100 million in general obligation bonds for infrastructure improvements around private and public schools."
Let's take note of the situation in the simplest way possible:
LAME DUCK CO-MAYORS FUNKY AND SQUITIRO HAVE NO SUPPORT IN KANSAS CITY!!!
They're trading favors, giving away the store while singing and dancing but not convincing anyone.
In the classic sense of the term, all of the really smart people in Kansas City are in the process of shunning Mayor Funky.
Personally, I'd like to thank PUCK for an excellent post which explained the whole thing perfectly before it went down . . . In flames.
Now there's a (small) chance that it could be resurrected. Who knows? Mayor Funky could get an outpouring of support at The Sprint Center. But I'm guessing he'll get one of the smallest crowds the place has ever seen with little or no opportunity for the public to question this latest of many Mayoral Efforts that once again demonstrates the Mayor's incompetence and inability to form a consensus.

Mayor's Schools First plan shot down
Schools First meets the sound of silence
Business leaders say they won't support the plan, and state lawmakers block a key part of the mayor's plan to push it through faster.
Almost as nice as the picture of Jan and Beth.
ReplyDeleteMaybe now he'll take that goofy button off his lapel.
ReplyDeleteThank god it's almost over.
ReplyDeleteCan we get our deposit back on The Sprint Center rental?
ReplyDeleteFunk and Glo need to be drug tested. They are on some serious shit. It's the only explanation for how they've been acting. No human can be that stupid and reckless while at the same time ignoring reality.
ReplyDeleteDrug Test Them Now!
Stop wasting precious words breaking Funk's plan and his stupidity down point by point. I'll give you a free lesson.
ReplyDeleteThe Schools First plan is ridiculous and makes no sense. The guy who brought it up is ridiculous and makes no sense.
See how easy that was.
Don't boycott Funk's Sprint Center show on Monday. Go see it for yourself. Bring food, some beer and some noisemakers. If you have a bullhorn, bring that too. Also bring your camera and if you have one, bring your camcorder.
Most importantly, don't forget your paintball personal delivery system. Funk will make a great target walking back and forth on the stage like ducks at the carnival.
Gloria was going to be paid for her "consulting services" for any Sprint Center event, so Funk will have the Sprint Center event.
ReplyDeleteSo, Funk gave Terry his CIMO vote and what did he get in return? A whole lot of nothing. What an ace political move that was.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the council will get some sense (one can hope, can't they?) and rescind this piece of garbage ordinance.
Nice way to sell out, Cathy Jolly... we'll remember this for your future elections.
Tony:
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your commitment to promoting the English language. Actually providing a hotlink to the definition of the word "shunning".
Wow, that's really going the extra mile!
Funkhouser is a classic case of repressed rage for the taunts he endured on the playground.
ReplyDeleteTall and skinny ... slouched-over posture ... bad teeth ... goofy voice ... bad complexion. Was never cool; always the "outsider". So he's tried to make the "outsider" image appear that it is something HE chose rather. But of course it was thrust upon him -- he had no choice.
He's always been angry; that' why he cannot, indeed WILL NOT "stoop" to working with anyone else ... will not consider others' views. BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL SO MEAN TO HIM WHEN HE WAS YOUNG. Sadly, he really is now a hopeless man raging inside. He wants to be someone that others will have regard for. But he does not know how.
Sad.
why doesn't he wear clothes that fit?
ReplyDeleteMark Squitiro what a ass.
ReplyDeleteThe guy looks to me like he's got Marfans Syndrome.
ReplyDeleteHe is done, done, done. Oh happy day no more Co-Mayors. Start the count down.
ReplyDeleteThe Co-Mayors cant even stroll thru Brookside without being laughed at. Im embarassed for them. They need to put the for sale sign in the yard now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a ugly couple. She looks like a big jug of Butter Milk. He is the before picture for someone needing butt surgery.
ReplyDeleteTony, Shunning is a very polite word for the Co-mayors haveing the Plague. Very contagious and no-one wants it! They have a political disease.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to Puck, but since Puck insisted (and has long insisted) that Riley and Curls were "in the bag" for Funk on Schools First, the outcome of the committee meeting kind of, well, proves Puck wrong... And means that even Puck's top-secret super-duper insider knowledge can be mistaken. Not that I don't still find those posts entertaining...
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point.
ReplyDeleteDear Mayor!
ReplyDeleteEven while this little berg may seem petty from the outside and from your inner disloyal circle, it's a sign that you're in deep shit.
You have far too many critics, so I expect you'll be defeated. Prepare youself for it and kindly don't waste KC residents money fighting the obvious. That would go against everything you've ever stood for. Swallow ego, do the right thing, Funk. And start planning now for how you intend to support yourself after the election.
Thanks for giving us your best and don't dwell on these assholes who have tried to defeat you to shine their own reputations!
You did you bit. Now find something else to do and relish that you've learned your lesson. KC politics sucks and will suck up even honest people.
So skip it. don't look back. Leave tony and his moron players to play among themselves.
Walk away from all these assholes!
Hey Radioman maybe you should spend time working on your own blog. A man who won't leave his abusive wife is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteDear Mayor:
Maybe you should forgive your mother for getting a divorce & get one yourself.
Congrats to you all for ignoring the fact that this was a good plan. For those of us who grew up in the urban core and actually care about the children who live there today are shaking our collective heads over your pig headed ignorance of the fact that School's First was a decent plan. We need infrastructure and the Council members all say they support that during elections. We say we know you don't run the district but we expect you to help in some way and they say they will. The Chamber of Commerce (Johnson County resident's) say they support both and yet when its time to put your money where your mouth is they are all against it. I don't care about Funkhouser. Do you care so much you will defeat something that we really need and care about? Or is it that you would rather invest in a money pit like a Convention Hotel than invest in our kids? I believe that was behind all this. I am in the process of getting volunteers to go door to door against every single one of these council members. I am sick of the childish bickering. They all need to go and I mean every one of them from top to bottom. This is a great time to run for office. ll seats up for grabs. Tony, I hope you make an effort to get people to run. That's time well spent. Forget Funkhouser. Who cares. Get the bums out!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSave money. Give every city worker who grosses over $65k a ten percent pay cut. They all spend too much time on this blog anyway.
ReplyDeleteByron, I just hang in here to provide some balance. I'm sure you'd like me to go away so you can beat up on the mayor without being interrupted.
ReplyDeleteFunny, a commenter telling another commenter to get lost! rofl.
You do it all the time radio-glo. STFU
ReplyDeleteActually I enjoy the polemic. Its easier to fight ignorance when you have a good example to highlight.
ReplyDeleteByron- LOL, but please provide a link to polemic so Radioman won't get confused. (Tony probably needs the definition too...)
ReplyDeleteNow I shall go back to parsing Last Straw's post to try and determine which one of the Funk crew wrote it... Very nice curve ball of 'screw Funk' to deflect attribution.
