Kansas City's Stubborn Mayor

As the election moves closer Kansas City dealing with a mysterious case of Déjà vu.

The Council REJECTED even consideration of Schools First in Committee.

Mayor Funky is DENYING REALITY and desperately claims more than 500 people were at his event . . . I guess he's counting students and paid employees.

Schools First was a failure and everybody knows it but The Mayor and his last remaining friends.

This isn't the first time Mayor Funky has stubbornly refused to face facts.

To start things off, the Local Latino Community and so many others pleaded with the Mayor to reconsider his silly stance on a Parks & Rec Board member of the now defunct and mostly crazy-ass Minutemen.

The Mayor also REFUSED ALL ADVICE TO KEEP HIS CO-MAYOR WIFE AT HOME!!!

And now the Mayor wants Kansas City to take on $100 million worth of bad debt in the name of a silly plan that nobody supports.

MAYOR MARK FUNKHOUSER'S PATHOLOGICAL STUBBORNNESS IS ONCE AGAIN ON DISPLAY!!!

There's only one small, blessed difference. This time around Mayor Funky is KANSAS CITY'S BIGGEST LAME DUCK with little or no chance at reelection, even as a spoiler.

An almost completely empty Sprint Center and an event that could have taken place at a Community Center for a far less expensive price tag is yet another testament to the Mayor's almost complete departure from reality and a reliance on only his will and Gloria Squitiro in helping managing Kansas City's highest office.

  1. Did you even listen to what he had to say?

  2. Yes, we tried to listen, but the lies got in the way. He is a stone cold liar.

  3. Even if it was 500, why did he need a 20,000 seat arena? He could have rented one of the conference rooms at Bartle Hall for the 200 people who actually showed up!

  4. He is pathological. He needs one of those specially-made white coats, and to live in a room with soft, padded walls.

  5. What troubles me at this point is useing Mayoral buget monies for campaign purpose.Schools First is done.KCMSD is on the right track with Covington and new school board.

  6. That this guy was even elected in the first place is an outrage, caused mostly because local TV, where people get most of their news, finds it cheaper to cover crime than government.

If it bleeds, it leads, and we only have to send a photographer to get some video of the crime scene tape.

  7. "Schools First" was Funkhouser's last-ditch hope to gain SOME kind of traction.

The City Council chose to ignore it in a very visible way.

The Police Board is ignoring it.

The School Board is ignoring it.

And last night was the most HUMILIATING icing on the stale cake.

TODAY IS DAY 1 OF THE FUNKHOUSER SUICIDE WATCH. Watch the countdown.

  8. Now THAT's funny!

  9. how about a 100 million so kids can go to school safely and go home safely from school. 100 million for more Cops.

  10. No!

Focus on the Funkhouser Suicide Watch!

  11. Or 100 million for the Mayors favorite contractors.

  12. Sorry... we need to quit using Monopoly money. A HUNDRED MILLION?

Divide that up among Kansas City taxpayers. My spouse works in KC and pays the 1 percent. There just arent' enough taxpayers to cover those kinds of expenditures.

The US government has the same problem... waging a war expensive enough that the worker citizens just don't earn enough to pay for.

We are SOOO drunk on EASY CREDIT!

I may have to reconsider my liberal beliefs. I'm a social liberal on human issues and tolerance, but a fiscal conservative because we just don't have the dollars to buy everything we want to buy! Sidewalks and sewers and fixing all the potholes, and snow removal and tidy parks, and better trained non-bully cops, and community centers to keep black kids from shooting each other, and yada yada yada.

Sorry, these are tight times. Parents need to reel their kids in because government can't keep them busy. Parents need to supervise homework because teachers are being cut.

Bad times. We have to belt tighten. Expect LESS from government during these times.

Take care of our OWN elderly! government just can't do it all for us anymore!

  13. Oh fucque. Radioman said that. I should not have hit the Anonymous key. So go ahead, try taking me down for my pragmatism!

  14. It may surprise you, but I think you are right. It would probably just annoy you, if you knew how content I am to be poor. Deciding not to keep up with the Jones was the smartest thing I ever did.

  15. He can not use a community center for a reelection event, and has been told so by the park board.

  16. Dammit Radioman- you've ruined my morning by making sense. You've also provided a clear example of relativism- I liked the post much better when it was from anon.
