I think the guy is okay too . . . But it's worth noting that he was called a "Judas" after his vote to close so many KC Schools. Still, I advise the politico to enjoy the warmth of the affection of local white people like Steve Kraske . . . Because it never lasts and usually evaporates right after they don't get what they want.

Who cares if people like you or not, so long as you have good intentions, respect yourself and others and do the right thing.
ReplyDeleteALW has done what so many other so called leaders lack the heart and courage to do. He reached out to all segments of the city to build a coalition of Black, White, Hispanic, Old and Young people to come together to support our superintendent in his quest to save the school district from bankruptcy and a state takeover. West has offered his own input and efforts with the School Board School to recruit people from the community to learn about school board governance and run for school board seats that have been unopposed for years. He then offered to manage the campaign for a diverse slate of candidates of young leaders who are well-qualified to run for the school board that garnered the support of the business, religious and political communities for the candidates.
Whether they win or lose, Airick Leonard West has done a remarkable job with the campaigns of Kyleen Carroll, Crispin Rea and Joseph Jackson. He does so much in the community with the kids, when all he could have done is take up space on that board with a title, use his seat to dole out money to his friends and families and serve out his term like a lot of the other members of that board have done and are doing.
Airick Leonard West came on the scene with no capitol and no connections, got elected to the school board, upset the status quo and shook up the establishment OBAMA style, and for that, he has the utmost respect and support of people throughout Kansas City.
And don't forget - school board members receive no compensation (unless they are corrupt and create their own income stream).
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell - Airick is just as poor as he was the day he started on the school board. All of this other work has also been without compensation. I believe he genuinely cares about the students and the community.
He sold out to Kim "Show Me The Money" Carlos.
ReplyDeleteExpect Kim to get huge contracts from the School Board if his slate wins.
Yancy you're killing us with the long posts. Please make them short and sweet.
