TKC is a blog committed to public service AND scantily clad bikini and lingerie models.
Today I have an important lesson.
Earlier today (and after morning tea) Lynn Horsely reported that "A prominent Hispanic organization has sent a blistering letter to Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser and city council members, over the suspension of Water Services Director Bernardo Garcia."
Of course, TKC TIPSTERS broke this story but I appreciate whatever contribution The Star can make to the local discourse.
Still, Lynn has some explaining to do . . . The "prominent" Hispanic Organization in question is The Hispanic Organization of Justice and Equality (HOJE).
What Lynn doesn't explain to readers is that HOJE has mainly one active member Frank Perez who has had his problems with the law. I'm not sure if HOJE can garner more than a dozen people at a meeting and their claim to fame is that Manny Lopez of Manny's Restaurant sometime sits in on their gatherings which aren't regularly scheduled and almost never open to the public.
WHAT LYNN DOESN'T REPORT IS THAT FRANK PEREZ REPRESENTS ALMOST NO ONE IN THE LOCAL LATINO COMMUNITY!!!
Even more lamentable is that ANYBODY who sends out a letter with a Hispanic surname becomes a Latino Leader because The Star is so out of touch with the Latino community. Of course Frank has some powerful friends and the letter was undoubtedly crafted with the help of Council People who often talk with Perez. But he's a politico with very little connection to the Latino community and only a small cadre of Latino business people with a very limited ability to deliver votes will be rallying for Suspended Water Dept. Director Bernardo Garcia.
And by the way . . . Just for the record, Garcia isn't the first Latino Department Director at City Hall. . . That honor belongs to Catherine Roacha who earned the title in her stint as City Clerk. It's amazing that TKC is the only person fact checking so many alleged "Hispanic" leaders. Natch.
Tony,
ReplyDeleteHow does it feel to keep lapping Lynn Horsley in your spare time when she gets paid for what she does? Well done.
lynn is good. but I wonder where she gets her info.
ReplyDeleteLynn is a good reporter but sometime she just doesn't seem to think her work is that important.
ReplyDeleteLynne is not good . . . she is lazy. She starts with preconceived notions, then goes to people she knows will reinforce them. She does not investigate anything, nor does she even stop to think about whether the things she is told (and believes) even make sense.
ReplyDeleteLynn is a pathetic hack. She has not one journalistic skill and never really checks both sides of any issue. She was in love with Wayne Cauthen, so everything now has to have a connection to Wayne in her mind. Why is HOJE so mad? Have they seen the grievance? If they have received any information, they certainly shouldn't have. Until an investigation is complete, it should be confidential. Is it Garcia rallying the troops??? If so, he should be fired for that alone.
ReplyDeleteLeave Lynn alone.
ReplyDeletePerez's group does nothing but sell worthless products under the guise of a civil rights organization.
ReplyDeleteHe is a felon and a scum bag.
Lynn should lose her job over this. She did not do her homework.
1. It's spelled Rocha not Roacha - give up the weed Tony
ReplyDelete2. HOJE is not respected, is not prominent and Tony is right, it's essentially a one man band with a felony conviction.
Tony why throw HOJE under the bus? Perez is crazy but he's also a great guy who will stand up for Latino causes when many if not most so called "leaders" won't. And if they do, I bet HOJE and Perez step forward first. I don't get it?
