A TKC Lesson In Cowtown Decorum: Don't Talk To Strangers Rioting On The Plaza!!!

I'm not trying to argue that victims of Plaza violence deserved to be smacked around . . .

BUT IN WHAT PERFECT WORLD CAN A DUDE ON A DATE ANGRILY APPROACH A GROUP OF TEENS AND ASK FOR A COFFEE REFILL WITHOUT FACING REPRISAL OF SOME SORT?!?!?

Here's the sitch: As they ran past, the teens knocked the cups out of their hands on purpose, said the man, who asked that he be identified only by his first name, Robert, because he feared retaliation. He spoke publicly for the first time Wednesday.

One youth even hit his fiancée in the face, he said.

Robert’s fiancée was angry. She prodded him into following the youths to ask them to buy her a replacement coffee.

“I tried to talk her out of it,” he said. “But she insisted.”

They approached the group and told them what they had done was “disrespectful.”

“You need to get me another cup of coffee,” the fiancée told the teens.

Instead, they closed in around them, Robert said. He said they threatened to steal her purse and started hitting her. One teen punched Robert in the face, knocking his glasses off his face and his body to the ground. Eight to 10 teens surrounded him, kicking and punching him, until his fiancée threw her body on top of him.

“She let go of her purse and jumped on me to protect me,” he said. “It was crazy.”

First of all, it' CLEAR like that guy REALLY needs to reconsider getting married to a broad who would encourage him to confront a group of strangers.

Secondly, c'mon . . . All of Kansas City is now scared because suburbanites have been watching too much 24. Plaza riot stories just keeping getting sillier the more detail that media provide. Sadly, nobody cares about the minority teens fighting with each other, only their alleged assaults on white people.

Finally, there's an important word that makes the intolerance of The Kansas City Star quite obvious.

THE STAR ASKS IF KANSAS CITY TEENS WERE "WILDING" WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING THE RACIAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE TERM!!!

Here's a bit of background regarding that term that mistakenly stems from a Central Park Jogger Case in New York years ago. Here's a National Review mythbusting the term: "Afterwards, in their holding cells, the teens launched into a raucous rendition of Tone Loc's sexually charged hip-hop anthem, "Wild Thing." It was this phrase, misheard by a police reporter as "wilding," which is the genesis of the now-infamous verb."

THAT'S RIGHT, "WILDING" IS ACTUALLY A RACIST WORD MADE UP BY WHITE PEOPLE!!!

It's really amazing that so many Star writers are ignorant regarding the use of loaded, racially charged language and obviously incapable of doing a Google search.

Still, I'm not bold enough to believe that I can stop middle-class white people from the suburbs (i.e. the media) from their panic.

It's just a little disconcerting that Kansas City so easily gives into fear.
