It's tea party time in Kansas City!!!
Fundamentally, I like the fact that so many people are getting involved in politics but I would be remiss if I didn't point out at least some local tea contradictions that I want to call hypocrisy but won't since I'm in a good mood.
If local Tea Party enthusiasts were so concerned about Healthcare, then why were they absent during a discussion of the hostile MAST takeover?
Seriously, the MAST was a public/private partnership that was totally taken over by local government and is in the midst of massive failure. My guess is that because dweebs on cable TV weren't crying on the subject . . . Tea Party enthusiasts didn't care and, of course, didn't do their research.
THE TEA PARTY ALLEGEDLY STANDS FOR "LIBERTY" BUT SEEMS TO ENDORSE RACIAL PROFILING OF LATINO CITIZENS!!!
This isn't an immigration debate. In Arizona right now, racial profiling is the law of the land. Tea Party enthusiasts support immigration crackdowns. Fine. But the fact is that authorities granted the power to detain people simply for the suspicion of being an illegal immigrant UNFAIRLY TARGETS LATINO CITIZENS WHO SHARE THE SAME DESCRIPTION!!! This immigration law treats some citizens more fairly than others and the freedom it strips from away from Latino CITIZENS is nothing less than a full frontal assault on liberty simply based on nothing more than skin color and a shared fashion sense.
WHY IS THE TEA PARTY NEARLY ALL WHITE IN KANSAS CITY?
They used to have some Latino dude they carted out to make the crowd feel less guilty about how vanilla the event was . . . But today's deal is gonna be nearly all white if I don't decide to go.
Tonight, I want to go visit my friend Darla leading one of the local Tea Party gatherings but there are sorts of inconsistencies that make me uncomfortable . . . Whereas, normally partying with white people in KCK was once a high school tradition of mine.
Finally . . .
Brit Reality TV contestant and Glamor model Sophie Reade a.k.a Dogface is probably more important than all of this and her NSFW photo set from Nuts Magazine in the U.K. gives me real hope for change.
drink it up.
ReplyDeleteMAST was never a "public/private" partnership. It's entire existence, the name, the board, the money, the facilities, everything was paid for by the city and thus public. You have some ill-informed "kickass tipsters" who think that repeating the same opinion makes it true.
ReplyDeleteMast was quasi-governmental, not fully public 8:50. It had its own board and was not run by a city office. Big difference.
ReplyDeleteThis is the most reasoned post I've ever seen on here.
Wondering if KMBZ bought a liability policy just incase Darla insults the nutcases too much, or eggs them on to attack an anti-teabagger like she did on the radio last night?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a Klan rally to me. Don't be black or Mexican in the crowd of wilding whites. They're concealing and carrying something more effective than pepper spray.
Why would you talk to Darla? This bitch was in deep planning with squit regarding trying to "save" her husbands failed administration. She helped plant false info. she degraded your family. She incites violence to all people who do not mindlessly follow her t-bagger creed. Why help her ratings by posting her rant??
ReplyDeleteYou should be organizing a boycott of sponsors, not trying to get a whiff of her scent....
What Would Chavez Do?
1) Your Latino link is to a BBC story. Yawn.
ReplyDelete2) The group protesting is La Raza. They are a group of bigots. Yes, Tony, minority groups can be bigoted and racist just the same.
3) If you don't want to be profiled, support crackdown on illegal immigration. EVERY responsible (guess that's the key word) Mexican I know does not want the illegals here. It makes THEM look bad and causes them unnecessary trouble. For example, if 1000 people who were my age, my demographic, and were my close peers committed crimes such as the illegal immigrants coming into the country, or perhaps, last Saturday night on the Plaza, I wouldn't LIKE being profiled, but I'd blame that on my PEERS, not on the people enforcing the law.
In AZ they just made being an Illegal, illegal. So they made a law making it illegal to brake U.S. law.
ReplyDeleteLets face it... Tony hates KMBZ and Darla Jaye and everything they stand for. But he has to be nice to them to maintain ACCESS and stay on the air Thursday nights to maintain his brand and keep his own hit numbers up!
ReplyDeleteLike it or not, radio still trumps local blogs when it comes to audience. Thank you, United States Government for letting Entercom INC continue to rent that 980 frequency.
Have you noticed how ungrateful Entercom is that the government leaves them holding it?
Please tell me why white people are so angry about government spending now but not under George W. Bush and where the tea partiers are getting the numbers they are using that claim 58 percent want the healthcare repealed?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear one well-reasoned, logical argument for a larger, more controlling government. I haven't yet, but I'm only 37 so I guess there's still time. Why is a big government more appealing to liberals? You mostly hate big corporations (they're evil, right?) so what is inherently better about a big government?
ReplyDeleteLucius, those people were in the same place all those anti war protesters for W are now! There is nothing appealing about a big government, unless you want handouts and learn to totally depend upon it, kind of like the east side of town.............
ReplyDeleteLucius-
ReplyDeleteIt's not a matter of white people vs "people of color" (isn't white a color?). As Sean and Anon 1:05 correctly point out, it's a matter of big government vs.smaller government. A lot of us, white, black, brown, yellow, red, and so on, were just as pissed off at Bush's antics in increasing spending without honestly paying for it. For or against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we should agree they should have been budgeted. (Although I must admit that the armed forces is one place I am more than happy to spend money- one thing government SHOULD do is make sure we have a military in place that is superior to our enemies.)Couple of links below on comparing spending between W and O. If you quibble with the source, go to CBO web site and do your own research. AND That 58% figure on repeal comes from an April 12, 2010 Rasmussen poll. Link to that below, too.

About big government.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the size of the government, no one likes big government, especially if its big enough to cost us so much money on tax day.
What we need of government, and its hard to get, is a level playing field, given how much money it takes today for politicians to be elected.
Rules for capitalists so they can't monopolize. Keeping bankers under control from being robber barons. Keep interest rates and bait and switch and late charges under control so they can't keep the poor, poor because of unfair business practices.
Keeping big coal companies from keeping unions out, from unsafe conditions.
Keeping car accelerators and brakes safe, fining unsafe companies. And drugs being really what the companies claim they are rather than sugar tablets.
Keeping employers honest. Keeping fishing waters free from chemicals that will kill us on a Friday night fish fry.
Keeping Iran from making nuclear weapons. Keeping black children from destroying shopping centers.
Making sure people don't let their pit bulls out of the yard.
Forcing doctors and hospitals to care for indigents rather than post signs that say "Please make another appointment if you don't arrange for payment today."
Lots of things. Most of which have to do with keeping the GREEDY from being predators on the rest of us.
The problem is, business interests bribe government to make business bigger. Because big business wants the government to take our tax dollars and send them their way to build bridges to nowhere.
Its never so easy as the tea baggers suggest. They're all being led around by the nose.
Rushbo is a master at only telling HALF of the story. He doens't nail republican congressmen for slipping in wasteful spending on other, legitimate bills just to make their constituents happily employed. Like building jets that we don't need!
If tea partiers were honest about things, I'd be among them. But they serve business interests. At my expense!
Radioman - It sure sounds like you want BIG government and LOTS of it! I guess it mostly hinges on how you define a "level playing field". I define it as opportunity...but you seem to be defining it as outcome. There is clearly a role for the government - but that role should be more limited than it is right now. The government is far too focused on giving everyone the "things" they want instead of the opportunity to go earn them. I'm a capitalist (have a 50 person business) and trust me, there are plenty of rules!! But guess what, every time you penalize a producer (someone who generates jobs) by raising taxes, etc, you're making the pie smaller for everyone. It's just illogical and frustrating. I don't get why you seem to trust the government more than a business...but I guess that's really the point of the tea party...trust people (yourself) more than either!
ReplyDeleteWHY IS THE TEA PARTY NEARLY ALL WHITE IN KANSAS CITY?
ReplyDelete^ Because they're racist dumbasses, duh.
You know what you won't find? A gay tea-bagger. Which just goes to show yout that GAYS ARE SMARTER!
ReplyDeleteLook at AZ and their anti-Mexican laws. These are the same teabaggers that take away the rights of brown people in the name of law and order. Then they turn around and want smaller government. No- they want big government for brown people and small government for Mr Gringo.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't read what I said, 1:54. Virtually everything but defence that I said was about regulating unfair business practice.
ReplyDeleteProtecting us from greed. Business will rob you if they can. Cut corners if they can. Cheat you if they can. Like poison in Chinese toys. Hiding dangerous car designs.
We americans have decided that's a major part of the role we want government to do. I suppose we also want the feds to regulate aviation safety and build an interstate highway system, major water projects. Yes,that makes government big becasue its a big country.
Get rid of the pork and it wouldn't be so big. Get a reasonable supreme court to rule that corporations aren't citiezens and so don't have 'free speech' to bribe elected congressmen.
And then government wouldn't be nearly as big as it is. Fact is businessmen are hyprocrites.
I'm not going to debate your disinformation. Go find out for yourself and don't waste my time. And try to avoid KMBZ and Faux news because that's where you're getting your disinformation.
A different hot female had me hoping for some change, but alas she disappointed me today. That would be porn star Stormy Daniels, who surprisingly announced today that she will not run against incumbent republican senator David Vitter. That could have been so much fun to watch!
ReplyDeleteTea baggers don't typically have much depth in their arguements. If they tried to run the country on the policies they spew it would look like Easter Europe over night.
ReplyDeleteAfter Easter Europe, would it be May Day Europe?
