TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! IT'S TIME TO BLAME SOMEBODY FROM CITY HALL FOR THE PLAZA RIOT!!!

A rather gully TKC TIPSTER recently noted that that Kansas City "Youth Advocate" Thalia Cherry is pulling down more than 75k a year and has heretofore managed to escape any culpability in the Plaza Riot mess and the City's lack of any planned response.

That's right . . . Cherry has been at it for quite a few years and she's just now starting to coordinate meetings with local schools and address youth violence . . . While of course asking for more money for her office just like everybody else in local government.

Still, it's Cherry's latest failure that has caught the attention of City Hall Insiders . . .

CHERRY'S ANSWER TO PLAZA RIOTING AND KANSAS CITY PANIC OVER AFRICAN-AMERICAN YOUTH CONGREGATING IS A CHANGE AND SCRAP METAL DRIVE!!!

Click on the expensive looking full color flyer that resorts to begging in order to benefit the Kansas City, Missouri School District Athletic Department.

This was her answer to Plaza Riots?

Also, a scrap metal drive in this town isn't a great idea considering how many meth addicts we have lurking around local streets. In a fight between a local school supporter and the "denizens of Independence nightlife" I think the fight for copper and reusable metal could be downright dangerous.

So, while Kansas City's Youth Advocate is busy collecting spare change . . . This town is still without any real solution as to concerns about rioting among local young people despite so much local cash dedicated to the subject.

  1. You have any better ideas T?

  2. Thalia has fooled the folks at City Hall into thinking she is doing her job for long enough. Her "department" does nothing but come up with stupid gimmicks like the one you have shown. If we had a person in that position that actually worked for their salary, KC would have a much better system in place to let youth know about available programs, as well as a method for finding out what the youth in this town want as options. Thalia is lazy and refuses to work as a part of a team. She doesn't want anyone looking over her shoulder and noticing that she does nothing. If City Leaders want an effective youth advocacy coordinator, then they need to hire one; they don't have one now.

  3. TC is one of Wayne's favorites, ad he gave her a lot of money to spend. She used it on worthless shit...I cannot believe she makes that much. Her qualifications?

  4. She is a nice enough person, but has done nothing at all in her time there. Very unqualified.

  5. The responsibility and blame of the Plaza riots falls on NO ONE but the kids and their parents.

It is NOT the job of the government to raise your children or provide them entertainment. It is, however, the government's job to enforce the laws of the land, and when they are broken, arrest/discipline those who break them.

Somehow, someway, we managed to keep from being bored and hoodlums, even though we didn't have cell phones, iPods, game systems, numerous movie, skating, bowling, parks options, and more, that today's youth have. MOST of the youth today seem to avoid crime and getting in trouble. It seems the select FEW and their parents are the problem.

  6. Now THAT is one kickass entry, Tony.

Anon at 10:59 is still right, that it belongs on the actual kids and their parents but the "Youth Advocate" @ $75K/yr should have something to do with this, too, if even a bit.

    Good job on this one.

  10. Maybe she has a masters degree in something relevant?

  11. Where's the ADVOCACY in that office?

  12. Well, not that many blacks end up in the big money unless they get a gig in government. EEO do you suppose?

it's be better if the most talented win the gigs, tho. Not the well connected. And if they don't produce fabulous results, then fire em and replace with another, but more talented.

It's HORRIBLE RACISM to have a mediocre minority bureaucrat on board and accept mediocrity, thinking that's all minorities can produce. Just not true!

Never tolerated in the white community. This means you don't care if she produces, she's only a number in a report to the government.

We expect better from KC government. If she's that bad, fire her and replace her with someone vastly better who has vision and can deliver. Or better yet, eliminate the staff position and put that money on direct services where it will do more good.

Like Parks & Rec, true nuff.

Replace her and put the money in the community buildings for programs that work. Her salary will buy a lot of pizza and hot dogs to bring the kids in to have fun, build wholesome relationships.

Maybe put together a few Powerpoint presentations on learning and getting job skills.

Get rid of the unproductive manager at 75k, hire direct service people. Or communication specialists who can create audio visual to inspire kids.

I be there are so many people with vision who need to be discovered to show us how they can inspire our young people to be the best they can be.

Including black young people with TALENT and need the break to show us their stuff!

    MAYOR, ORDER IT!

Maybe the black dude living in funk'd's attic can quit his job at 17th and Paseo and work for his sugar daddy. Maybe he can bring insight and make more bucks for Chez funk'd! Lord knows that after the primary funk will need every damn dime he can get. I doubt his brother Brian will float him a loan.

Teens accused of robbery in south KC
A south Kansas City boy was held at gunpoint by two teens who invited him to play basketball -- but really wanted to rob his house, Jackson County prosecutors allege. Darrel M. Kind-Summers, 17, faces charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. The other suspect hasn't been charged yet.

It happened about 4 yesterday afternoon near 105th and Wallace. The victim said the two teens came to his door, asked him to play ball and, when he turned around, a gun was pointing at him. His Xbox Elite, some games, his iPod, Nikes and other possessions were stolen, as was a flatscreen TV. The suspects allegedly told the kid not to call 911, or they'd kill his mom.

The kid called for help, but police were already alerted to the scene. Somebody called the cops, thinking it was suspicious to see two teenagers carrying a flatscreen TV, wrapped in a sheet, down the street, court records state.

  16. Very true, 3:46pm. I work in the hood and nothing pisses me off more than when I go into these section 8 houses and they have bigger flatscreens than I do with a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 underneath it.

  17. Wayne Cauthen promoted Thalia Cherry and gave her a raise because he was screwing her. He was also screwing Ava Gardner. Ava makes more that Thalia and does nothing too.
