TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! INSIDERS NOTE THAT SLY JAMES COULD CONCEIVABLY CARRY MOST OF KANSAS CITY'S BLACK VOTE IN THE NEXT MAYORAL ELECTION!!!

Just a quick observation for the morning and then we will move on . . .

The Mayor's race is shaping up to be not as crowded as people initially thought.

Terry Riley proved to be both a gentleman and a school by making a smart lateral move in order to clean up Jackson County. This creates an interesting power vacuum.

CONCEIVABLY, SLY JAMES COULD NOW CARRY A VAST MAJORITY OF KANSAS CITY'S EASTSIDE AND AFRICAN-AMERICAN VOTING BLOCS WITHOUT HAVING RILEY SPLIT THE VOTE!!!

All on its own, a strong showing in this community could carry Sly James to the primary without much help from anyone else.

We all know that white people love Sly James but at this point he would do well to turn his campaign to the Eastside and make connections with (real) leaders among this local constituency. With the Northland split among Mayor Funky, Mike Burke and now Deb Hermann . . . A solid Eastside voting bloc will carry the day. More interestingly, Mayor Funky's friends Ajamu Webster and Linwood Tauheed have been proven ineffective at delivering on all of their big talk.

So, it's worth noting that the Eastside Mayoral Vote is now up for grabs and Sly James is in the best position to take advantage of this situation given the area's strong disapproval of Mayor Funky.

  1. What about Jan?

  2. You love making up shit don't you? Webster and Tauheed are both friends of James.

Secondly, I think the school board elections prove that African-Americans in this city simply don't vote.

  3. School board election proved that whites don't vote either.

And Tony you should know that James doesn't have many black friends.

  4. You have a good point Tony. With Terry gone, James improves his odds.

  5. James would be a Mayor for everyone. He knows city govt, and is a very smart man.

  6. KC doesnt need to re-invent the wheel We need a Mayor with civility and common sense. Mr. James has my vote.

  7. Mr.James is a life long resident. I believe this is important.I dont believe you will hear him refer to Kansas Citians as Po-dunk and slow to catch on.

  8. Just so long as it is not the Co-Mayors. The end of this madness will come to an end. Oh happy day.

  9. Anon 6:52 am: Do you mean Jan or the other 4th-District Councilwoman?

  10. Sly could win. No question.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No, Sly would be Mayor for special interests.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Please stop speaking for the folks of the East side you have no idea what we want need or who we will vote for. How many people on the East side even know who this person is?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not going to happen.

  14. Tough to win a mayoral election with no votes from the Northland or the 4th and 6th district Catholics (he sues the Church). Add in doctors and the health care community (he sues them too), and I don't see the math working for Mr. James, even if he does spend a lot of time introducing himself to voters on the East side.

  15. low turnout on the east side - which is guaranteed, hell, Brooks couldn't get the turnout - means he might have a chance to get through the primary, but he'll lose the general. Northland, Southwest corridor, and south will be taken by Rowland or Burke in the general.

  16. I'm one 4th District Catholic who's voting for Sly. And I guarantee there will be more.

  17. 2:01 - what exactly does being catholic have to do with it?

  18. Another Midtown Mom4/9/10, 3:46 PM

I thought I heard Sly was Catholic.

    ReplyDelete
  19. again, what does that matter?

  20. Just so it is not the Funky Co-Mayors

  21. Sly doesn't know beans about city government. He seems like a perfectly nice person, but other than suing KCMO for cash for his clients and using MBE status to land some KCMO legal work he had to farm out because he didn't know how to do it, he has zero involvement. His interviews with community people are embarrassing... he doesn't have a clue. He needs to spend some time on PIAC or council or someplace and learn a little about the city before he tries to run it.

  22. 7:06 so should Mike Burke be eliminated because he bills the city or Jim Rowland ... should the Troll be gone simply by virtue of the fact she is uneducated.

do you know how many catholics there are in the fourth? It's a solid block.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This Catholic will not be voting for Sly James. And, yes I live in the Southwest Pod.

    ReplyDelete
  25. MOFO looks like Idi Amin... 'Mayor for Life'...LOLZ

  26. I happen to know that even when Sly James an attorney, knows he is breaking the law he proceeds and I will say so under oath and take a lie detector test.

What he did was a felony and he knew it and even said he probably shouldn't. Is that what you want?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I should add I approached him twice, once when he worked on the Plaza and then downtown.

The truth is the truth, ask him if he ever knew of an older woman being stalked? See what he says, he covered up a felony and a felon.

Ask if he wants to correct his honest mistake.

  28. Who would vote for a guy named Sly? Unfortunately, all the black leaders in this city turn out to be corrupt. Sly would be no different. You have Terry Riley and Wayne Cauthen profiting off a backroom deal with Perfect Output. You have Riley trying to rip the city off for expenses from his church. If Mr. Sly "the fly" has committed a felony, and got away with it, he doesn't have a snowball chance in hell. BTW Tony, why would you think he would get all the black votes? Are you saying all blacks are racists?

I'd take Funk again over Sly the Fly anyday. At least Funk is wrapped up in any corrupt dealings.
