So, it turns out that the TKC questions about School Board Prez Airick L. West were rather apropos.
Today, The Star profiles the young politico and the vast array of white people who tell him what to do.
The underlying theme of this article seems to be that West is taking order from a great many folks . . . Also, there's a mention of the for-profit "Be 1" but little explanation that it's an ad campaign and not a charity.
Anyhoo . . . The Funky reference is a clue for us all that West is beginning his flirtation with a broken politico which is not only bad news for the KCMSD but also the guy's fledgling political career.
THE FACT THAT AIRICK L. WEST IS BUDDIES WITH THE FUNKY ADMINISTRATION SHOULD DESTROY WHAT LITTLE POLITICAL CAPITAL HE HAS LEFT EAST OF TROOST!!!
Expect his enemies to pounce and the Brookside liberals are too timid to really help him. What the article really reveals is that West was a candidate created by Kansas City white liberals but these are the same kind of milquetoast people who don't stay loyal to any politico for too long or when things start to get really ugly . . . And they will.
School Board contracts are too precious and the dirt already in store for West won't endear him to the housewives he has impressed with his speaking ability.

MAYOR FUNKHOUSER'S SCHOOLS FIRST PROGRAM IS SIMPLY A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!
Even the thought of watching West tap dance for the lame duck Mayor is painful. The plan just doesn't make sense, more taxes during The Great Recession won't go over at all and Mayor Funky ruining another Black politico is a horrible thought as well.
Funny . . . A Funky Foothold in the School District could end a reasonably promising career early.
The mayor's "Schools First"plan is laughable. West is a fool if he aligns himself with Funkhouser.

ReplyDeleteFirst Schools must have some money in it for Kim Carlos. She got really chummy with West and held the strings that control Rea, who is of course still carrying the scent of the co-mayors. If Kim has a chance to make money, she will do anything.
ReplyDeleteIs the picture becoming a little clearer to you now. Big business bought this campaign, because there is money to be made and they want it. The media was paid off to follow the story of who's best interest it was in for West team too win. Now watch the money see who gets paid and then talk about education. The students have nothing to do with this it's about the money and who has the control of it, but this is KC most of you already knew it was about the money.

You fool it already has. Just pay attention to the money. By the way when was the last time you heard Covington or his staff talk about teaching and learning? Where is the money that is suppose to go to the classroom? How many contracts have been giving out and where did that money come from when the district needs $50 million to recover it's debt oh wait, no it's $30 million or maybe it's just $10 million and they need the rest to but more things. That have nothing to do with educating children.How much did it cost to put together all the materials for the "Right Sizing" and out of what budget did it come out off.Who are all of these consultants that just popped up? What are their assignments and where did the money come from to pay them?

ReplyDeleteOh please Airick has an army of dedicated activist who support him and stand with him in the work that they have to do. There was no way the media couldn't side with an Army of angry and motivated voters who knocked on almost 10,000 doors in the last two weeks of the campaign. The people have spoken and we will not continue down the path of Racialized politics and corruption that has robed our children for far to long. I see the forces of the status quo gathering at the gates but from one voter/activist(and possibly more) to another, we will not stand idly by and let the goons retake our school district we turned the page for the better on April 6th lets not go back folks, our children deserve better.

ReplyDeleteJohn Covington and Airick West are the best leaders KCMSD has going for it right now. Hopefully our city's children will finally benefit from the district's leadership-instead of the other way around!

Teachers union did you notice that he is meeting with UMKC LEADERS of Education (white teachers) and they are coming in taking your jobs, he sold the district out teachers, kids, families. He is part of the urban takeover. I'm glad to see Tony questioning his actions, and since when did a Board election needs funds to run..West is a mess and he is taking your money selling out your community and the white folks love him, cause he is smart enough to have your women take care of him and make the white leaders meet him on his terms..hahaha--freedom is now being run by West..
