Keeping Track Of Kansas City Killing

A Rather KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS notes the following regarding this cowtown's death count that has been trending upward for more than a few years:

"There is a misprint on the KCPD website: They list 25 homicides in 2007 as of this date--the actual figure is 22--by the end of April 2007 we were at 24. At the end of April 2008 we were at 32 and at the end of April 2009 we were at 40. It's time to face reality--we cannot make bad things go away by pretending that they don't exist."

TKC readers can check the official numbers for themselves at the KCPD website.

So far, the weather has been more effective at preventing local murders than any local initiative . . . Judging a steadily increasing murder number this year, I'm not sure if we can expect the climate to cooperate in the coming months.

  1. Dear Mr. Tony: Thanks, as always, for keeping the city posted on homicide figures. We are now at 31 homicides for 2010--On April 30,2007 the figure was 24, on April 30, 2008 the figure was 32 and on April 30, 2009 the figure was 40. As you know, when the current homicide surge began in the spring of 2008 the city's media stopped keeping running counts of the number of homicides--so you and people like Alonzo and The Pitch do a great public service by keeping a running tally of these figures. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans

  2. That KCPD website is so slow and most of the information is incorrect. They do not even show Brooks as a Police Commissioner. The site is very out of date. What's bad is a lot of the links are broken. Very confusing for the citizen.

  3. Who cares? Do we get more money from somebody if we count it high?

Should I buy more stock in minority funeral homes?

T, youre gettin as bad a the mainstream media, making too big a thing out of little things.

I'm still of the view that the minority murder rate is just home grown justice.

I'd be vastly more interested in seeing them categorized by domestic desturbances, randoms, drug related, etc.

And then know how many resulted in arrests, convictions and imprisonments. And also the cost of prosecuting them/defending them with court appointed, taxpayer paid lawyers.

Enough of this hand wringing. Are they worth prosecuting? Or just the ones involving innocents?

Lets get to the REAL data, not just bodybag counts.

Radioman if someone pops a cap on you then we'll just quote you.....

Don't make a big issue out of radioman's death. His murder was home-grown justice.

  5. Admittedly I was just stirring the pot because this place has too many people who blindly agree...

my point in the past is that a lot of murders are simply street justice because drug dealers don't sue for non payment in court.

Like the Italians, they just break your legs or have you wake up with a horse's head in your bed.

I admit that grand theft auto or an unpaid drug transaction shouldn't deserve the death penalty, but it's clear that there's an element in KC's inner city that thinks it DOES.

To bring those types to white man's justice system may be unreasonable. Really, I don't know. I've always been wary of government power over life and death for misconduct.

We don't seem to object when arabs cut off the hands of thieves, or stone women who have sex while being unmarried, or cut the clits of young girls as a religious practice, or kill the female babies after birth like they do in China where parents are only allowed one child, pref a boy child.

There's just a lot of hypocrisy in the world, and selective tolerance. Males have such different acceptance of sexual conduct than women do, for example.

Why does our justice system seem to favor the female viewpoint? Most lawmakers are male!

Why do men have to pay child support for 18 years when women who just want to stay single and have a baby pet, and rather easily find a sperm donor? that seems kinda unfair to a guy who's just giving her the baby she wants in a five second squirt.

If we're so pro-family, why do we pay single moms to have baby after baby?

But if a 19 has sex with a 16, we want to register him for life as a pervert, so he'll never be able to get a job his whole life?

I'm beginning to think state legislatures need to be abolished. They're more dangerous even that the feds!

  6. I checked out the police website and it does have a lot of broken links.

  7. Do they count a person killed by the police as a homicide?

  8. Radioman you just ramble on and on to make a brain fart thought.

  9. No, most of the comments in here are just brain fart probably texted on cellphones. I believe its important to build a case rather than just tweet an unexplained brain fart.

  10. Even the contacts link is dead.... good luck filing a police report.

  11. The numbers regarding homicide totals ARE correct; you ought to check your source's information out before making the accusation that these totals are (deliberately) being skewed.

  12. The KCPD have deliberately skewed crime stats before.

I trust Alonzo Washington to keep count more accurately.
