Right now, the biggest news in Jackson County politics is that a woman running for office named Crystal might not be named Crystal.
SHOCKER!!!
The phony outrage over this one might just be the reason why so few people vote. The alternative is actually explaining the merits of a candidate and the importance of real issues in an upcoming election. But the Kansas City Crybaby routine involving the creation of a boogieman and a subsequent great crusade to defeat the opposing candidate is far more fun . . . Or at the very least, it's the tactic that has marked local politics for so long.
