For a moment, forget that Mayor Funky is committing horrendous acts of both malfeasance and nepotism by bringing his wife back to City Hall after she cost Kansas City several hundred thousand dollars thanks to her big mouth and the Mammygate lawsuit. While any other City Employee would have been fired or seriously reprimanded for such a costly error, Gloria Squitiro is welcomed back with open arms after the expensive mistake in the midst of budget woes. The prospect of foot massages in Kansas City's highest office is also disappointing and gross.
What makes Co-Mayor Funky and Squitiro's reign even worse is that they've now betrayed every, single, one of their campaign promises.
Lynn Horsely does a nice job of detailing the latest Co-mayor flip-flop.
Yesterday, The Mayor voted "yes" in support of a TIF for a multi-million dollar Briarcliff Hotel that he called "silly" back in 2007. The 20,000 square feet of Northland Convention space that was a selling point for the project DOESN'T HAVE TO BE COMPLETED FOR SEVEN YEARS!!!
With this one vote Mayor Funky, once again, proves that he doesn't believe in anything but his own career advancement and all of his highly touted "principles" have been exposed as nothing more than a bad joke.
In the end, Funkhouser isn't about creating a "City That Works" or being "Smart with the Money" he's just a guy who is run by his wife who can't be taken at his word.
Get rid of him.
ReplyDeletewho, Tony?
ReplyDeleteFunk should go home.
ReplyDeleteWe all knew he was just a loudmouth demagogue. No news here.
ReplyDeleteThe Mayor created this controversy just to get elected. Economic development is important to the city. Briarcliff generated enough tax revenue to build the new bridge on 169. As a northlander I say thank you.
ReplyDeleteIs the public safety tax going to be TIF exempt? If citizens want reform quit voting for taxes that goto TIF.

ReplyDelete8:19 post doesnt make sense.
ReplyDeleteAll parts of this city needs some improvement. Narrow minds will get us nowhere fast. Lets get the Green Impact Zone rocking and rolling.
ReplyDeleteThe Funk is a principle-less, souless, repulsive, just plain stupid piece of toilet waste. Sadly, the recall vote barely missed expunging him. Now we will haqve to wait until the electio next year for the citizens to flush the municipal toilet and rid themselves of both the Funk and the un-elected Co-Mayor.
ReplyDeleteWe will all breathe a sigh of relief when our municipal nightmare ends.
agree.
ReplyDeleteFunk is just crawling up Garney's you-know-what for campaign cash. This is just voting for dollars, pure and simple.
ReplyDeleteAnon: 8:16... if you can tell me which bridge was built with Briarcliff TIF bucks, then I'll buy it from you.
oh God, can't he just disappear? or take a job back home? maybe in the coal mines? and nobody gives a damn about their home life... sure Tara is a vegan? does that mean she stopped eating dick.
