There has been a lot of talk about law and respect and civility over the past few weeks without much mention of how these concepts apply locally or if they matter at all in Kansas City.
I tend to think that elected officials are not only indicators but examples of the kind of people who live in any given area. To wit . . .
CO-MAYORS FUNKY AND SQUITIRO ARE A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THIS TOWN'S HYPOCRISY AND CORRUPTION!!!
Think about it:
African-American teens on the Plaza were lambasted for fighting while Gloria Squitiro created a hostile work environment at City Hall and now returns triumphantly.
The Mayor devoted an inordinate amount of time to Plaza nonsense this week while failing to keep any of the promises he has made to South Kansas City regarding sidewalks or the rest of this town in terms of infrastructure . . . Or even his lame TIF promises that have been broken.
Most importantly . . .
GLORIA SQUITIRO COST KANSAS CITY AT LEAST A MILLION DOLLARS BECAUSE OF HER BIG MOUTH AND NOW SHE'S BACK AT CITY HALL!!! NO OTHER "VOLUNTEER" OR EMPLOYEE COULD PULL THE SAME STUNT AND STICK AROUND IN WHAT IS A CLEAR CASE OF NEPOTISM AND MALFEASANCE!!!
This is Kansas City's local government and it's being run like a small, crooked family business by two of this town's biggest creeps.
DID YOU KNOW THAT GLORIA SQUITIRO SITS IN ON MEETINGS BETWEEN THE MAYOR AND ACTING CITY MANAGER TROY SCHULTE?!?!?!
Because this town is so polite, there are an inordinate number of cowards content to do nothing but wait for an election . . . But more than a few people think that that Mayor Funky is doing nothing less than breaking the law by bringing his wife back to City Hall after she has cost Kansas City so much money.
If there is little respect for laws and local government institutions, it obviously starts from the top with a mayor far more concerned about his wife's comfort (and bare feet) than his responsibility to residents.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice photo. They look like a sweet couple. She volunteers her time to help her husband for no salary? That's very good of her to do so. They invite people over to sit down on their front porch to chat instead of a formal office where many people might feel intimidated? That's a nice thought and creative way to put people at ease. They seem like very down to earth people.

9:06: It wasn't the City Council who spoke racial slurs to Ruth Bates. It wasn't the City Council who made the working environment hostile (not to mention disgusting). It wasn't the City Council who sued. Put the blame squarely where it belongs... on Ms. Squitiro. She must be held accountable for her actions. And since the Mayor brought her back (I'm sure at her demand), then he must be held accountable for his. The best place to do that is the ballot box.

I still think city government should publish the emails and phonecalls to TKC by name, just so we know who these TKC tipsters are. He has to guard his sources to stay in business.
But city government isn't under such a restriction. Who knows, the mayor may well already KNOW who's backstabbing him and chooses not to reveal that the IT department's sending him the records.
But a reasonable organization would FIRE your asses. Put you on the street. There's no honor in disloyalty for political or personal purposes.
If you are whistleblowing for ethical reasons, it'd be different. But most of the crap I read in here is just petty shitty hall politics. and YOU are asshole deep in it!
