Right now Mahoney blog is providing the best live blog coverage of the KCK Tea Party . . . And I can't help but think that it really is living up to its name. The tea party is polite, almost private and really only a big deal to those involved.
WHEREAS ALL OF KANSAS CITY IS NOW TERRIFIED OF THE PLAZA RIOTERS!!!
It kind of puts politics in perspective.
For the most part the Tax Day Tea Parties have been a dud because they're predictable. The "movement" has now been completely co-opted by cable TV news and doesn't really represent anything grass roots . . . Merely a great many reactionary white people angry at The Black President.
Meanwhile . . . Potential Plaza Rioters (i.e. local African-American teens) have captured the imagination of this entire town. Their influence has just about every newsie waiting with anticipation.
From what I can tell:
JUST ABOUT EVERY KANSAS CITY NEWSIE IS GOING TO STOP BY THE PLAZA THIS WEEKEND!!!
But we already knew that . . .
KANSAS CITY CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS OTHER THAN COUNCIL DUDE JOHN SHARP ARE ORGANIZING A RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS OF POLICE MISCONDUCT!!!
Plaza March in April or May?
AND TKC COMMENTERS REPORT THAT ANGRY WHITE PEOPLE LOOKING TO PICK A FIGHT (OR IRRATIONALLY RESPOND TO ONE) ARE GOING TO MAKE THEIR WAY DOWN TO THE PLAZA AS WELL!!!
I don't know if it's a "perfect storm" but once again it seems like middle-class people who consume too much media are panicking just like tea party people mistakenly believe all the Obama Hate they hear.
And maybe it's reason enough to stay home . . . And read a book.
Developing . . .

NICE JUGS ON THIS BLOG!
ReplyDeleteGet over yourself dude
What, no riot?
ReplyDeleteYawn
ReplyDeleteJim Corwin Our "beloved" police chief did not want to hear the truth and threw a childish temper tam-drum before the city counsel.
ReplyDeleteThe Police did over-react.Many of the the young people were there and in large groups, but most were just walking along, The youth got violent when shot with pepper spray. Many were clearly in pain, after the police over-reacted.
ReplyDeleteWho cares --- look at those tits!
ReplyDeleteIf KCPD get's its way your right to see a girl in a swimsuit be long gone.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the city should send only black police to the plaza to "pop" our black youth with pepper spray. Issue resolved.
ReplyDeleteCheif Corwin is going to protect one of his pets, Captain Greenwell, who is obviously trigger happy.
ReplyDeleteC'mon Corwin do what is right for a change.
Maybe John Sharp can go down and reason with the mob? They wouldn't touch him?
ReplyDeleteKC,
ReplyDeleteThe truth is hard to get to as it relates to this story. There a bunch of code words being used by the cops & city leaders to address the Plaza drama. So let me break them down for you:
* Juveniles: Black Youth
* Curfew: Black youth can't be where White people hang out/selective enforcement!
* Flash Mob: We don't know where Black youth may gather next!
* We won't tolerate crime: White people can't be afraid where they shop!
* We are working with community leaders: We are working with Black people that we can control!
* Parents be parents: We are going to arrest your kids if they are Black.
* Mobs of kids can't be on the Plaza: Get back on the eastside and we don't care where you are as long as your Black @$s is not on the Plaza, Westport or the Power & Light District.
* Social Media: Media that we can't make lie for us.
Good Job Alonzo !!!
You say what needs to be said !!!

It's gonna be like the Plaza Lights ordeal this weekend. Terrible traffic and no parking. We're cabbing in for our ring side dinner reservation. Just hope that the weather holds.
ReplyDeleteHey 9:19 you bringing gas masks with you. You'll need them.
ReplyDeleteNo but word is the Strip Trolley is offering mask this weekend. That Westport Trolley Stop will be at ground zero if the mob switches targets.
ReplyDeleteAlonzo, you can be such a nigguh. I apologize for the term immediately because I don't like it, and don't use it.
ReplyDeleteI actually like black people and find them attractive but I admit their wilding behavior can be so disappointing. Been around blacks for decades. Find them just like everybody else-- except when they get pissed off about being pissed ON by white society.
Which is why I'm quick to say the urban dysfunctional black culture is screwed up BUT UNDERSTANDABLY SO!
Sorry, Alonzo. You're going to have to be way more wise than THAT! And if you can't, then STFU. nigra! Let the focus go to someone in the community who has some REAL IDEAS! I Don't think you do, actually! No matter how many moron teachers call you in for a guest appearance! You're a PLAYUH, but not a LEADER!
Yes, I'll sign my name because I think you are a fraud, no matter your recognition!
Radioman I respect your right to free speech but could not disagree with you more. Alzono is right .... many people disagreed with MLK at the time but history sees him as a leader. Alonzo is just pointing out attempts by the white community to put the black man down.
ReplyDelete"Alonzo is right"
ReplyDeleteReally?
Is that you Tony?
I can't believe I read that.
If that was Alonzo's point, I missed it, sure enough.
ReplyDeleteI think there was a lot more going on Saturday Night that such an obvious point that whites put blacks down. Duh! What moron wouldn't conclude that BLACK KIDS WILDING on the Plaza is not an effective way to work your way into the majority community?
I bet the Mexican and viet communities will not resport to such an 'in you face' demand to get into American society. I bet they will learn the language and BLEND. And I think they will be successful!
Alonzo, you are WAY off base. Do you think it's OK for 700 Black kids to terrorize the Plaza? You can call it whatever you want but the simple fact is those kids were out of control. White people are not the only people to be victimized by this Black gathering. A friend of mine was down there with her family and they were attacked on the way back to their car, the females breasts and bottoms were groped and they were referred to as "sand niggers" and "camel fuckers". Apparently this is what Blacks think of Hindi Indians. That is not the only story of non whites being taunted and assaulted in the last 3 weeks on the Plaza.
ReplyDeleteI understand how you think the media and police force are using "code" words. Kansas City's residents who like to take their children, wives, girlfriends and parents/grandparents to the Plaza for a peaceful night with dinner, shopping and maybe a movie want to know why "code" words matter when they are being terrorized by Black thugs on the Plaza.
If you spent less time looking at the world as a victim maybe you would realize that colors don't matter. It makes no difference what color those 700 kids were. What matters is what they did. If you can't deal with that honestly then you sir need to sit down and shut the fuck up.
who said it was 700 black kids i was at the plaza and it was not just black kids....
ReplyDeleteAlonzo, crimefighter? Seems more like Alonzo, crime justifier above. And can you sense with relish with which TKC is stirring up shit? Bad karma, you two ...
ReplyDeleteanon 9:30: "shop"? don't you mean terrorize?
ReplyDeleteWho the hell was comparing Alonzo with MLK?....Im sick of the white man holding me down bullshit, control your kids!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Let the crowning jewel of this city go to hell and we'll be just like East St. Louis. The ghetto blacks can scream racism all they want but I predict a hard line will be drawn in the sand and money and power will prevail. There is NO way 700-1000 brats are going to be allowed to hang out every weekend in the Plaza.
ReplyDeleteKeep the "gallon" jugs coming! No pint-sized ones, please.
ReplyDeleteKeep the "gallon" jugs coming! No pint-sized ones, please.
ReplyDeleteNow I remember...I'm supposed to get milk at the market on the way home!
ReplyDeleteAlonzo, were you there? I was. I can tell you first hand that you are way off base. I have seen this thing grow first hand for five weeks. The police may have code words, but you are misreading their meaning.
ReplyDelete* Juveniles: Young bratty punks between 11-15. Some are too young to be called teenagers. Their actions were too adult to call them children. Believe me, if a group of kids approached you in an intimidating way shouting things at you and your date, juveniles is the nicest word you could use.
* Curfew: The time at which we can make all the little brats go home. It was probably a pretty exhausting night for the police and plaza security. There were no less than 5 crimes against persons or property reported. I witnessed two different fist fights in the streets. It wan't about race. It was about little kids out of control and everyone wondering where their parents were. Curfew is the time when parents have to be responsible for them again.
* Flash Mob: This has been going on for 5 weeks. Flash Mob is the media's way of explaining not covering it and the Plaza's way of suggesting it might not happen again this week.
* We won't tolerate crime: No one of any age or color should be allowed to assault and intimidate people. The problem isn't the gathering, but the crimes. If the kids were behaving themselves for the most part, as had gone on in the first few weeks, they would have been left alone. The police only got involved heavily the week after property damage and intimidation started to be reported.
* We are working with community leaders: Responsible community leaders are the key to solving this problem. Have you been reading the comments on this blog and in the media? The police are going to be out in full force and so is every concealed carry gun nut in town with a chip on his shoulder looking to keep the peace. Can you really be considered a community leader and encourage kids to be out there on Saturday night? I have respected several things you have written in the past. You are right to bring attention to the murder rate east of Troost. Encouraging kids to take part in this activity this weekend brings a risk of tragedy. These are 11-15 year old kids. I fear your agenda is getting in the way of preventing a possible tragedy. Proving your point is not worth any of them being injured or worse.
part 2
ReplyDelete* Parents be parents: I actually choose to believe that the parents simply didn't know. The media had not covered any of this. They were probably happy to drop their kids off at the theater on the plaza. Seemed like a safe thing to do. I think it should be far tougher for those kids to get permission this weekend. There are kids looking to commit crimes in the crowd. There are troublemakers. Even if their child is a "good kid", parents wpn't want them associating with the troublemakers. In the end a 11-15 year old is the responsibility of their parents. They are not adults and can not be treated as adults. Therefore the most common thing I heard from both races last week was "where are these kids parents." Parents of all races are embarrassed when their kids act a fool. This is a normal reaction you are trying to turn into a matter of race.
* Mobs of kids can't be on the Plaza: Or anywhere else. Seriously, tell me where in town a growing crowd has been gathering to 700-1000 strong and crime rates are skyrocketing. In basically 5 square blocks almost a thousand young kids gathered. Several assaults occured (one very serious). Property damage was reported. Multiple businesses had to close early. The police were completely incapable of controlling the crowd. Where else is this happening in town? I will join your crusade to make the media cover it and make parents aware. This just happens to be occurring on the Plaza. That allows you to add a racial element, but it doesn't exist in reality. Regardless of race or location, the police need to do something about the crimes caused by this gathering.
* Social Media: Media we don't understand.
Alonzo, step up and be counted as someone who wants to reduce violence in all parts of KC. I do care about violence east of Troost. Do you care about the serious potential for tragedy you are encouraging west of Troost?
