Once again it is my duty to challenge the sense of entitlement and hypocrisy being spewed forth by so many newbie crime "activists" in Waldo who have heretofore been unconcerned with violence in any other part of Kansas City.
During the course of the Waldo Rapist debate reactionary forces have shamefully compared blogging to rape. For the record, TKC would never force himself on anybody. My "relations" with chubby, blonde white women have always been completely consensual and enthusiastically curious about playful spanking. But I digress . . .
However, now is that part of this discussion where we need to put the blame where it belongs. To wit . . .
IT'S TIME TO HOLD THE WALDO CID ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE IN DEALING WITH THE SERIAL RAPIST AT LARGE!!!
A KICKASS TKC TIPSTER recently clued me into to the mishandling of the situation from The Waldo Community Improvement District.
"Has Waldo as an entity done anything to reassure people that they are on top of the situation? Has there been a press conference or any communications coming out of Waldo? They just passed a huge CID (community improvement district) funding package that pays for - among other things - security on horseback and 4 wheelers!"Without question:
THE WALDO CID SHOULD BE ON TOP OF THIS SITUATION AND SO FAR WE HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THESE FOLKS TAKING KANSAS CITY TAXPAYER DOLLARS!!!
Don't believe me? Check out Waldo's website and there's no mention of a rapist at all, only an reference to "The Sweet Guy" which is thankfully unrelated. I checked.
In the meantime, a great many Kansas City dimwits are getting together on Facebook to racially profile every Black dude who dares to venture into Waldo. The internet lynch mob might be a good idea but it's also a fabulous echo chamber for tacitly racist crime talk that ignores the other murders in Kansas City just a few blocks away.
So yet again . . .
IT'S REALLY WHITE PEOPLE WHO MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE LACKLUSTER MEDIA RESPONSE TO SERIAL RAPES!!!
When part of Kansas City is closed off to the reality of the rest of this town and residents are too busy goofing off online rather than holding their taxpayer funded institutions accountable -- A disaster was bound to happen. It's past time that all of this racial profiling of Black males was met with a reality check.
In fact, in order to look at who might really be responsible for a horrible reaction to Waldo rapes we need to look no further than the people in charge.

Here's a bit of description of this effort that hasn't been too effective in fighting Waldo-Area rape and must probably wait till the weather warms up:
"WALDO CID DOLLARS AT WORK! As of October 1st Waldo now has three Area Awareness Officers patrolling on bikes. The Waldo Area Awareness Offices of Chesley Brown Companies, will be interacting with merchants and citizens to assist in creating a secure, well-managed and welcoming environment to all parties who frequent the Waldo Area from Gregory to 85th Street along the Wornall corridor. The Area Awareness Officers will provide a uniformed, visible presence to observe, report and serve as sources of information to the public, police officers, local businesses, tenants and other agencies and organizations. The officers are joining the Waldo Wizards of Satellite Janitorial Company who are helping with the beautification of Community Improvement District."Again, I want to stress that the police are doing their best when fighting crime . . . But other Waldo orgs that receive taxpayer cash have been unseen.
The services of the Area Awareness Officers are not intended to replace any situations that require Police intervention.
GET IT STRAIGHT, THE WHITE PEOPLE OF WALDO NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SITUATION WHICH LED TO THESE RAPES!?!?!
A disparity in media coverage and the fact that corporate media only cares about crime against white people shouldn't make up for the fact that Waldo has failed to prepare and deal with the current violence that the rest of Kansas City has faced on a daily basis.

ReplyDeleteIt would help to read the details of the CID before casting blame that makes no sense - the Waldo CID area is only the retail district along Wornall Road. It does NOT include any of the residential neighborhood. The residents are not taxed nor are they within the area where security would be provided - a CID can only provide services within its boundaries. In short, this post lacks a lot of facts.

I live in Waldo, just houses down from the last incident and I've yet to see one Police car, day or night, cruise my neighborhood. Not just since this has happened, but ever and I've lived there over a year. I've seen the horses and 4-wheelers out, but only on the trail and only in the summer. I pay A LOT of money to live in Armour Hills/Waldo, TOO MUCH MONEY, and I'd appreciate that you, Waldo CID, take some responsibility and do your part to keep us single ladies safe.

If you remove some of the emotion and replaced 'rapist' with the word 'sniper' you would still have just as difficult of a problem to solve. It is extremely hard to catch any single criminal in the act let alone someone who is carefully planning their criminal activity.
Stop being so ignorant and reactionary Kansas City. Playing the victim also does no good. Behavior like this is what keeps criminals winning. Create neighborhood watch groups, report every single little thing to the police, arm yourselves, and watch any communtiy meetings for weirdos. The perp will either be caught or shot with his pants down. Hopefully the latter.

ReplyDeleteAs a Waldo business owner, I find it disheartening that so many of you somehow now are looking to blame us for not doing enough. Our business, along with pretty much every other one in the area, have been willing to put up flyers about the rapist, safety classes, etc., as well as hosting events, or being willing to discuss what is going on.
ReplyDeleteAlso, please don't assume that we are racist. We initially didn't place the sketch up (until we got one with more details on it) because it simply was the drawing and just said "rapist sketch." We found that to be problematic, as we are quite familiar with profiling. Also, you don't know anything about our personal lives and beliefs, so please refrain from making blanket statements.
As for the CID, I do find it odd that the Waldo Business Association has not even put any information on their site. Please note that even if a business is a member, we are not in charge of anything really.
So,what do you want businesses to do? Should we be making sure everyone is locking their windows and doors, and taking all precautions? Or do you just want money - because clearly money fixes everything?
Please, do not assume we are not worried or care about the neighborhoods surrounding our businesses. We do. For those of us who also live in the neighborhood, we are doubly concerned. Start small (as in your own home or business) and make sure it is secure as you want it to be, then expand into getting to know everyone on your block and looking out for each other, then just keep expanding to encompass more and more area.

I certainly believe what's happening on the "east side" is unfortunate and unacceptable, but as many others have pointed out, it's often a tangled web of drugs, poverty and violence. It doesn't make it less important, but based on the quantity of incidents and the "no snitchin'" mentality, the news of crimes in this area unfortunately blends in.
However, when a PREDATOR is presumably stalking and attacking defenseless women who live alone (regardless of their race), neighbors and the media take notice.
Tony...let us not place blame on The Waldo Community Improvement District, on the neighbors for banning together on Facebook or the residents flocking for protection. There is only one person to blame--the sick, sadistic man still known only as "The Waldo Rapist".
