The Star: "The Kansas City Council gave final approval Thursday to a plan to replace the 60-year-old nuclear weapons parts plant at the Bannister Federal Complex. The council voted 11-1 in favor of the development agreement for a new plant, with Councilman Ed Ford the lone dissenter." Kudos to Ed Ford for voting his conscience on this one and refusing to support "a plan to continue making non-nuclear components for weapons of mass destruction."

They would have made the components elseware. Did you want to loose these jobs? Putts
ReplyDeleteelseware
ReplyDeletewhere's that?
and how do you "loose" a job? like in letting go?
ReplyDeleteand last i knew, "putts" was something you did on a golf course.
btw... elseware is a department in most major department stores.
Thanks Ed. Your lone vote will not stem the continual tide, but we need the reminder that these are weapons of mass destruction. Use them carefully.
ReplyDeleteEd Ford would have voted ABSENT if he had voted his conscience. I think his vote is a combination of payback for John Sharp, who "interfered" in a matter in Ed Ford's district last year, and a pander to the anti-nuke people who will not forget this vote. (everyone else will).
ReplyDeleteWhere's the downside for Ed Ford here? Purely political calculation by a Council re-tread.
Ed Ford "voting his conscious" - first of all it's CONSCIENCE,and second, he would have to have a conscience first, which the soul-less little devil doesn't have. This was pandering. What do you wanna bet he would've voted for it if he had been the deciding vote?
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to vote no when this is on the other side of K.C.
ReplyDeleteLet's see him vote no if this was at N. Brighton and Vivion rd.
Better yet, let's see him vote NO when it comes to annexing Tomahawk Ridge...and who here believes that the developer is going to deliver all the basic services to this area - raise your hands, I'm counting!
