TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! ARTHUR BENSON FILES DISCRIMINATION SUIT AGAINST THE P&L DISTRICT!!!

There is a major development in the long saga of discrimination complaints against the P&L District.

Kansas City Attorney (and School Board member) Arthur Benson has just filed his lawsuit against the P&L District.

THANKS TO KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS WE HAVE A COPY OF THE LAWSUIT FOR ALL TO SEE!!! PUBLISHED FIRST HERE ON TKC!!! NATCH.

The details are interesting and definitely worth a look

Insiders are wondering if the case has any merit given that these same folks were later photographed at nearby Shark Bar that's still in the District.

Still . . . THIS IS BIG NEWS in terms of the ongoing effort to straighten out the image of Kansas City's most controversial party place.

Again, look at the lawsuit for yourself and check out tomorrow's edition of The Call for a write up on the subject.

Here is what I don't understand: Why didn't P&L do something real to prevent these kind of accusations? They need to be out there in the community and come up with some type of move that says this case has no merit.

Really, the last thing I remember happening there is DJ Jazzy Jeff getting thrown out.

Wouldn't it be great if P&L District had a predominantly African-American event featuring hip-hop and there was not a single instance of violence?

Isn't that what we all want? Isn't that what we all should be working toward?

  4. What happened to the class action?

Ok, I am going to be fair and say that had these people not went to another bar in the district, not took pics and uploaded them on the internet, not sent an email to David Cordish acknowledging that they al got into the Shark Bar without incident, they would have had a stronger leg to stand on, but they actually hurt their case more than helped it before this suit was filed.

But their are many others who were denied and who do have strong cases and their suits will be filed soon hopefully.

  5. P.S.

You shouldn't show pics of yourself skinning and grinning and them claim that you suffered non economic emotional damages. No sir, No ma'am. You go home, or go to 18th and Vine, not to another bar in the same district that discriminated against you and inflicted the "emotional injuries." Lord...

Ok, I'm done. The Power and Light District is still racist and practices discrimination regardless of whether these people in particular prevail or lose their case. I'll just wait and see how this whole thing plays out.

  8. Cordish deserves it, they are actively trying to kill local businesses.

It's what they do Kansas City, wake up.

  9. I'm sure that Mr. Benson will be as successful in this endeavor as he was in improving the KCSD through litigation.

Maybe we'll have a fencing program in the P&L to attract suburban drinkers!

  10. Didn't he help bring us the single most expensive failed Educational experiment in U.S. history?

Now he wants to improve the entertainment district. Great.

  11. How can you cry anything when one of the women plaintiffs was thrown out of two bars, in KCK just after this suit they are trying to get off. The first incident was for bothering a customer and then waiting for her after the bar closed threatening and tried to do harm but was not successful. Second getting into a fight in another bar with a couple of women because of her behavior, but we want to complain! The nerve. We are all taxpayers regardless of our race. Check yourself before you check others. Stop looking for a handouts. I wonder what your behavior was like that night, taxpayer.
