One of the most attentive and AWESOME TKC READERS made the connection regarding an earlier link on a sad, local housing situation . . .
Check it out:
"You linked to this story on the Quality Hill apt. building with no heat for two weeks. I read the story and then saw the owner is Del Hedgepath. No wonder! The Lawrence Journal World wrote him up as a slumlord for the condition student housing and how he failed to maintain the property."The AWESOME TKC TIPSTER is suspicious of Hedgepath's "legacy" when it comes to maintaining properties . . . Whereas I just think it's cool that so many media watchers in Kansas City can now identify local property ownership trends and witness how so many factoers work to form the overall character of mostly run down Midtown.
He also bought the building with Missie B's and Mama's 39th St. diner along with several other houses down the block, a few years ago. He doesn't own those businesses, just the building, but he's there landlord. He also bought the former Buick building that he turned into the former NV nightclub in River market. He wanted it to be a gay club but when business didn't turn out like he wanted, he made it a straight club and it apparently did much better until being shut down for violence. He owns other buildings in town too including the space that housed the former Cafe Trio on Broadway and as you can see, they got out and moved to their much more expensive locale on the Plaza.
Just drive by the former Cafe Trio on Broadway and see what it looks like now."
Dell Hedgepath is a well known midtown slumlord. He chased out Cafe Trio and will keep that corner in ruins for years to come. Run down midtown mostly suffers from bad property owners who have no vision or respect for their neighbors.
ReplyDeleteHedgepath is a scumbag! Don't ever, ever, ever get stuck being his tenant!
ReplyDeleteOh Mama :)
ReplyDeleteHe is definitely a scum bag right next to the guy that owns the Zin and Oflarety Law building on the corner of 39 and Main.
ReplyDeleteI used to live in the Quality Hill area. It was a pretty deceptive name. It should have been called Shit Mound because that's what living there was like. Read the reviews on Apartmentraitings.com sometime.
