The Horrible People of Hyde Park Hate Po'folk and their problems!!!

Playing to type, Tollner Tells it mounts a stereotypical attack on a recent Pitch article that skewered his neighbors in Hyde Park.

Yet again he's spitting out data that fuels fear and hatred of po'folk while ignoring that Hyde Park d-bags and their ilk are responsible for the proliferation of HGTV and Extreme Home Makeover.

My only question is if Tollner and his Hyde Park peeps really believe that anyone but their fringe group of Midtown nasties would endorse their agenda based on chasing po'folk and minorities out of their homes and embracing Midtown gentrification at the behest of people who maybe give $20 bucks and talk really loud at campaign fundraisers.

These people are like a bad Sarah Silverman joke that Kansas City is supposed to take seriously. They're not even good at disguising their contempt for their poor and brown neighbors along with their almost complete inability to forum a consensus or reach out to anyone outside of their demographic. Throughout our history Kansas City has embraced gentrification for huge corporate benefits and/or cynical social engineering. However, nobody ever lifted a finger for a bunch of bickering, disorganized middle-class speculators who aren't even happy when they get their way. What's worse is the faux concern about crime in their neighborhood and the willingness to use one of Kansas City's most controversial topics in order to sell horribly remodeled homes. Again, "these people" complaining in Hyde Park aren't really serious about fighting local violence by doing something more substantial than chattering among their coffee pals. So, UNTIL THEN their efforts are tantamount to an echo chamber of aging hipster homeowner frustrated that the real estate game isn't as simple as the latest episode of House Hunters has led them to believe.

  4. Tony, you seem to be confusing arrogant douchebags fighting against ignorant crack whores and gang-bangers as a gentrification issue. Gang does not equal brown people. But it just so happens that most of the gang bangers around Hyde are brown. I say good riddence.

  7. Not sure why Tony thinks the 'po folk' want to live in a crime infested building any more than the Hyde Parkers want them there. At least the Hyde Parkers have a choice...

  12. I was at the last Old Hyde Park Neighborhood Association meeting this past Tues evening at the Uptown Theater. Susan, Marty Phillip's wife planted herself at the little cocktail bar. She got so shit-faced before the meeting she constantly interrupted the guest speaker, Dustin Jenson from the Metropolitan Energy Center by whooping and hollering from the back of the room. The best part was when she toppled off her barstool and went crashing to the floor, smacking her fool head on the edge of it as she went down! Larry Sells just rolled his eyes. Will the antics of these uppity midtown neighborhood crazies ever cease? I hope not! LOL
