Has Kansas City Given Up On Obama?

There are a litany of things that the locals want Obama to talk about in his upcoming State of The Union Address. Most of the U.S. is at least somewhat frustrated in the Obama Administration so far. While there are signs that, nationally, things are picking up for President Barack what's more important to TKC is the local perception of the Chief Executive.

Kansas City hasn't seen much Obama cash.

This cowtown is somewhat influenced by talk radio types taking rhetorical shots at the Prez all day. Furthermore, while Kansas City is Democrat controlled we are surrounded by some of the most reactionary and backward people in all of North America . . . Take a day trip to St. Joe if you don't believe me.

The campaign was focused on Hope and Change that isn't abundantly clear in boring healthcare debate and ongoing (seemingly never ending) commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Selling a dream to people isn't that hard, keeping them as coming back as repeat customers takes much more talent.

When it comes down to it, the vast majority of people in Kansas City may not care about what The President says tonight, even if he does plan to finally allow gays to openly serve in the military. Surviving yet another day through The Great Recession might be more of a pressing concern that will sooner or later manifest itself at the voting booth if Obama doesn't save us all soon.
