TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT FIRES THE HIGH-RANKING LATINO IN THEIR ADMINISTRATION!!!
So much for unity among people of color. While it may not seem obvious to so many denizens of Kansas City politics, there's a shameful and horrible conflict going on right now that threatens the education of thousands of KCMSD students:
THE KANSAS CITY SCHOOL BOARD HAD DECLARED WAR ON THE LATINO COMMUNITY WITH A RECENT FIRING OF A TOP LATINO ADMINISTRATORS!!!
Some of the more connected Latinos already know what I'm talking about, but it's time to make it plain:
After 15 years of working in the KCMSD Dropout Program, Ed Marquez was fired yesterday.
Marquez has excellent connections in the local Latino Community and already has been one of the few members of the School District administration to actually maintain personal contact neighborhood groups comprised of parents and teachers.
WITH THIS FIRING THE KCMSD HAS VIRTUALLY NO LATINO REPRESENTATION WITHIN THEIR ADMINISTRATION DESPITE A HISPANIC STUDENT POPULATION OF 25% OR MORE!!!
There's no way to interpret this other than an outright declaration of WAR. The people who run the KCMSD don't care about a quarter of their students and political games, preserving the status quo and keeping high-priced contracts in place are far more important.
This is one of the most blatant instances of disparity within any public institution in Kansas City and so far NO ONE BUT TKC has taken notice.
The Latino Community is basically being denied access to public education in Kansas City and so far no one cares.
nice post T.

ReplyDeleteTony this endless Mexican race baiting is ridiculous. From a tax payers perspective this so called "administrator" needed to go. 15 years running the drop out program and more students drop out now then 15 years ago! If he was black or white you'd treat him just like you did Wayne with indifference! Your bias towards hispanics is blatantly obvious.
ReplyDeleteHow is firing an Administrator who wasn't effective "denying" the Latino Community access to public education in Kansas City?
ReplyDeleteonly 5% of the kids are here legally anyway...
ReplyDeleteWTF?! He was one of the only good people up there. This does more than deny Latinos; it denies everyone who wants KC kids to succeed. Fucked up!
ReplyDeleteI gave up on KC schools a long time ago T. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteEd's a good guy who was making a difference with students. He should have been given more support by the school distict instead of getting the axe. The reality is that the school district doesn't give a crap about Latino students or representation on the board by Latinos.
ReplyDeletehow was your public education tony
ReplyDeleteThe real story is that the KCMO School Dist does not care about any of their students, no matter what their skin color happens to be.

ReplyDeleteTop scientists have said the world's supply of Hyperbole is disappearing at a rapid pace and it will be gone by the end of December 2009.
ReplyDeleteAfter years of study it was finally
determined that the culprit resides in the sweaty lowland swamp of blogs located in a basement in Kansas City, Missouri.
nobody gives a fuck about tony. but the lack of latino representation is important news.
ReplyDeleteif mary sanchez was worth a shit she would have done a blog post on this friday.
Yeah good point made earlier...if you sent the illegals.(wetbacks) home to Messican land, there would be about 1% mexicans left.
ReplyDeleteEd Marquez always seemed like a good guy--but isn't it weird the Dropout Prevention guy gets fired within 10 days of them reporting a huge improvement in their dropout percentage?
ReplyDeleteLook I'm tired of the lack of Latino's on the school board argument. Look tony as someone who hails from New Mexico where hispanics long eclipsed Blacks as the dominate minority and now majority. Its up to you to Run credible candidates who can and will win office. Plain and simple. IMHO as a Asian I believe our interest should be addressed before yours but I digress. Regardless we are running creditable Asian candidates where are the hispanics?
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of Hispanics asking for handouts and gubment positions its bad enough we let you invade our country now you want undue power and influence. One more Affirmative Action hire doesn't equal mexican access to education. By firing this Asshole we saved the real tax payers dollars and maybe we can get someone in who is actually qualified to fix the drop out rate.

ReplyDeleteWhy bother Tony like his brothers down south are only concerned about having cushy government jobs and shipping us dollars south. They don't have America's best interest at heart, only power grabbing.
Losers, losers, loser post comments about things they know nothing about. Ed Marquez was hamstrung at every point, he had finally gotten the dropout program where it could begin making a difference. He will be missed. Don't expect the Hispanic community to rise up and complain, the remaining leaders are prima donnas who only care about their own publicity. They scurry when "illegal" immigration becomes an issue. They don't want to lose their few supporters.
ReplyDeleteThe majority of Hispanics in KC have been here for years; the newer Hispanic residents are getting fewer and fewer and they don't want to point out their status. Bad situation all the way around.
This school district is just a prime example of how the oppressed become the oppressors whenever they get a little perceived power. There always has to be someone who is on the bottom - and we don't want it to be us.
Latinos should not put their precious children in the KCMSD. No way. Put them in private or charter schools, depending upon your economic situation. Education is the ONLY road to improvement as a nation and individually. KCMSD is a planned roadblock to education.
ReplyDeletebut mezikin kids WANT to be niggers or at least like to act like them....so sad.
ReplyDeleteThe real story is that the Kansas City, Missouri School District doesn't care about ANY of its students.
ReplyDeleteGo to any neighborhood school and see for yourself.
At my K-8 school, students routinely fight, threaten teachers, walk out of class, prevent teachers from teaching, curse loudly, and write gang signs on the wall.
What does the principal do about it. Absolutely nothing. She tells teachers that the existence of such problems are "classroom management" issues.
KCMO schools are a joke. There's many great teachers, but they're effectively denied the chance to do their jobs by the failure to discipline students.
