I was thinking about this and the question has come up during conversations enough times to make it an official TKC News Story . . .
KANSAS CITY POLITICOS ARE SAYING COUNCIL LADY JAN MARCASON IS THE PERFECT MAYORAL CANDIDATE!!!Benefits:
Every white lady in Brookside loves her . . . Gloria Squitiro is the only less than notable exception to this rule.
By far Jan Marcason is the best political fundraiser in Kansas City.
She talks a great game but has little substance and not much of a record to attack . . . Also, all of the dudes running for Mayor would look horrible beating up on her, especially Mayor Funky.
It'll be like returning to the Days of Mayor Kay without all of the baggage. Or at least a slightly better TIF record.
She has mentioned the word sewers . . . Among lazy Kansas City politicos, this counts as effort to repair local infrastructure.
On the losing side of this argument:
The estrogen heavy KC Council has been a complete disappointment. There was a myth that so many political ladies would be able to play nice . . . Unfortunately, stereotypically feminine attributes like pettiness, backstabbing and indecision have defined this Kansas City Council group.
Jan still has one more term as a Council person . . . Still, there might not be such a lame duck incumbent in office next time around.
Jan Marcason's infamous potato salad that she used to make back in her non-profit days has a longer list of accomplishments than the 4th District Council Lady.
Still, there's no denying that there is a great deal of curiosity about Marcason's next move from Kansas City's top politicos. As of yet, there are no white women running in the Mayor's race and this town seems desperately in need of classy lady to make us forget about the barefoot days of Squitiro at City Hall. Therefore, I don't mind announcing Jan Marcason as the next Mayor of Kansas City.
A great many white ladies in Brookside are hoping the speculation is more than just backwash floating around a lady who once happily referred to herself as "Sewer Jan."
No way. I don't even want to think about her coming back for a second term.
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if Jan ran for mayor. She would be pretty easily defeated in the mayoral race, but not so much in the in-district race. Anything to get her out of being on the council would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteIf she does run her council seat will have already been promised to someone. I wonder who it would be.
ReplyDeleteNot a bit of substance to her, just a total air head.
ReplyDelete"Not a bit of substance to her, just a total air head."
ReplyDeleteThat's what the king makers in this town like in their politicians.
I'd hit it.
ReplyDeletethe only reason for Marcason to run is to make the field VERY WIDE! This is the only way for funk'd to get in the primary. Funk'd is also trying to get Terry Riley into the general election. They think he would make the BEST opponent. Jan evrybody SAYS "Ypu should run for ____. You'd be great!" A smart person takes a reality check. Do so now.
ReplyDeleteJan you need to run for mayor. You would win easily. With your good looks and potato salad you would be the winner you already are. Maybe you could hire a foot rubber or a rubber of feets.
ReplyDeleteThe simple question is will Chris Moreno agree to run her mayoral campaign? If Chris is in then he Jan is running for the big job!
ReplyDeleteDid she get more votes that the Funk in the last election?
ReplyDeleteI have the pleasure of working with Jan. She is not deserving of the term 'airhead'. The gal has a long track record of commitment to KC prior to her tenure on the Council. She 'gets it' with respect to complex issues such as, yes, KC's sewer issue. She was the person behind mitigating rate impacts of the $2.4 billion program, looking at ways to assist low income residents, and was very effective at diving in (ooo....sorry, the visual is bad) and learning the background of the problem without micromanaging the Water Services Department. If nothing else, you don't have to worry about hidden agendas with Jan. I hope she runs for Council where her first year experience can be leveraged.
ReplyDeletewhy did she marry a gay man?
ReplyDeleteI too have worked with Jan. She left the MAAC in a real mess because of her lack of business acumen. Don't like 'airhead'? Fine. How about 'incompetent'?
ReplyDeleteDigging in to the issues means nothing. She can dig into nuclear physics too. Does that make her a physicist?
Good thing we have influential people with money in this town to tell these council members what to do.
ReplyDeleteAsk the woman to explain 990's to you. She reads them "all the time" but can't describe them or what they are.
