Strange that The Star is substituting news stories for simple round-ups and profiles. Still, AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS had breaking news on the fate of Freedom Inc. and ethics complaints against the group in October . . . Meanwhile, the juxtaposition is far too politically correct and doesn't really note that both groups are at polar opposite ends of Kansas City's Political Problems that go back to the Pendergast era.

Both organizations sold their souls long ago. The fact that no one pays attentions to them is a step forward for the city.
ReplyDeleteHelling is too stupid to notice that Citizen's Association "member" Pat O'Neill is paid by the association as a PR consultant as well as being paid by Mike Burke as a campaign manager.
ReplyDeleteSo, which of the mayoral candidates is selected to speak about the importance of the Citizen's Association endorsement? Why it's Mike Burke!
On top of that, Pat O'Neill ran the Combat Campaign, so he was the one who threw 10 Grand at Freedom Inc. for who knows what.
Gee Dave, you really know to dig in and get the facts so that people can understand how things work!
They know how to dig up the facts --so what is the reason they do not publish the facts. Is there a monetary reason, a boss who will not allow it, what is the deal. This is a good example of why I do not read the Star and haven;t for ten years.
ReplyDeleteIt is nicer now with the Blogs I can get info easier and FASTER.
The Star is into lazy reporting and is scared to print anyting that would really tick anyone off because they know they haven't done the work to back up any hard hitting reporting if anyone challenged it.
ReplyDeleteThey are elitist who don't spend time developing real sources and the reporters who actually are good at that sort of thing have been cut off at the knees by being spread too thin covering beats left over from fired collegues and if they were in the bureau they now work downtown far from their territories and the ability to drop in on a daily basis and do some sourcing.
I agree with 7:55AM except for the part about voting for Sly. Ending corruption? Sly is just another lawyer who thinks he's owed the title of mayor. No different than Burke, or any other retread who thinks they can be mayor.
ReplyDeleteWe need an outsider. Not an outsider like Dumbfunk who wasn't really an outsider but another City Hall drone, but a real outsider. Will there be no fresh, exciting and preferably young candidate emerge?
John Galt, I agree with your first paragraph, but don't know if an outsider is the answer. It can't be just any outsider... they have to be informed on the machinations of City politics and the basics of how things like PIAC, planning, zoning, etc. work. I'm not saying it's not possible, but I don't see any current "outsider" candidates that are out there floating about the periphery doing the down and dirty work of getting an education about the basic of government at City Hall (such as it is).
ReplyDeleteThere is a candidate who is coming into the light and from whom I hope we see a decision to run. Watch for her...
