Kansas City Contract Negotiation Name-Calling: Local 42 Nominates Jackson County Prosecutor Jim Kanatzar Scrooge Of The Year!!!
The Fire Fighters call out the Jackson County Prosecutor in an X-mas time political prank:
Local 42 has nominated Jim Kanatzar, Jackson County Prosecutor for SCROOGE of the Year! Mr. Kanatzar has purposely delayed contract negotiations for 65 Assistant Jackson County Prosecutors for several months, until after an internal Local election. And this is in spite of having been endorsed by organized labor, including Local 42, in his last election. Kanatzar has also sought to strategically strip already established core provisions from Local 42’s collective bargaining agreement, such as “just cause”, grievance and arbitration stipulations. It has been over 15 months since Local 42 requested bargaining and almost a year since the prior contract expired.I'm not sure if hassling a prosecutor is the wisest move but it certainly proves that Local 42 isn't afraid of ANYBODY.
So Kanatzar is the Scrooge? Does that make Louie Wright the "Ghost of Christmas Past"?
ReplyDeleteIn Local 42s version of the Christmas Carol, Louie Wright would visit Kanatzar in a nightmare and remind him of the wonderful period in our cities history when politicians knelt subserviently before the corrupt Union Bosses. Together they would reminisce about how the great Tom Pendergast ruled the region and could make bad things happen to those who crossed him.
Only in this nightmare, I think its Wright who needs to wake up! The fact that the prosecutor is still talking to the union even after the contract has expired should stand for something! If the contract has expired, are the union attorneys STILL in the union? Or can they get out because they dont have a contract?
In an era where it seems EVERY local politician has given Wrights Local 42 the keys to the coffers, I find it refreshing to see one of them who is unwilling to bow before King Louie.
Don't forget it was Mike Sanders who created this nightmare, having prosecuting attorneys represented by the firefighters union. Sanders rode this move to the County Executive's office, and now the County is broke and he's looking for any other office he can run for. Kanatzar just inherited this mess, he shouldn't be blamed, and what self-respecting lawyer would want to be represented by the firefighters union. I guess that's why the Prosecutor's office is such a mess.

ReplyDeleteJim Kanatzar is the biggest disappointment to politics in the last twenty years. He is an insecure, little man that has his wife making all of the decisions for him. I mean everyone knows that Mike Sanders is a nerd/dork/possibly gay but we try to look past it. But Jim had some potential. However, you have to remember, YOUR Jackson County Prosecutor failed the bar exam three times. Then Sanders hand picked his little "bitch" Jim to be the prosecutor. Kanatzar is so far up Sanders' ass it is laughable. We keep hoping that Jill and Tim Dollar will tell Jim to "grow a pair" and stand up to Sanders. However, us folks that work for him realize that we should be mad at Sanders for putting Kanatzar there, but Jim has shown us that he is just not smart enough to be in that position. He failed as a private attorney when he left the prosecutor's office and came back when Dollar forced Sanders to take him back and he is just too naive to understand politics. And the worst part is that the citizens lose because many, many criminals are going free because Kanatzar can't run his office.

I would have loved to see the sexual harrassment spectacle unfold had HE been appointed by Sanders. Kanatzar may have a few skeletons rattling around his closets, but no where near as many as a corrupt Union Boss.
Oh wait...Didn't Kanatzar win (and handily so) an election to be the Prosecutor since his appointment?
If you have so much knowledge about the Prosecutorial Process, Louie, I encourage you to run for that elected position. Although you BARELY held on to your own position as union president so aspiring for this postition might surpass your abilitiy. It also proves that maybe Kanatzar is a better politician than you are.

ReplyDeleteThe whole idea of a union is so that you don't have to "be afraid" of your employer. Why should people exercising their rights of association, and asking for wage and workplace rights be afraid, as you've alluded to Tony?
