"Toto's in Mission Ks has closed. Toto's was a coffee place and has been in mission for a number of years. It is just across from the now closed Outback Steakhouse that closed a couple weeks ago that I wrote you about and you posted about. At one time it was fairly popular. The original owners started to raffle it off several years ago and then found a buyer and backed out of the raffle. This owner did a good job but times are hard."
It looks like a nice place but maybe part of the reason behind Toto's biz fail might be a truly awful website which includes A HARDCORE ELEVATOR MUSIC SOUNDTRACK!!!
It was a really great place in the early 90's when I was a student at Shawnee Mission North (a couple of blocks away). The biggest problem was that as time went on, they started serving mandatory Christian Evangelism with their coffee. You couldn't even read The Pitch anymore unless you brought your own copy, because they got rid of it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it remained that way after changing hands, but for many like me, I suspect the damage was done.
The moral of the story is that violating the separation of Church and Coffee isn't always good for business. Hope you're taking note, Homer's.
This place has closed multiple times. Changed names only to change back. No big surprise.
ReplyDeleteThey had a bigger problem than the economy. Their beverages, especially their coffee, was just terrible.
ReplyDeleteBut how do you say it? "Dude, this is a coffee house, but your coffee tastes like paint!"
And yeah, Jesus. He was there waaaaay too much.

ReplyDeleteThe place had been horrible for years. Rude owners and employees who acted like it was such an inconvenience that someone walked thru the door. I never understood how the place passed a health inspection, it was filthy. Hate to be against a local establishment, but in this case the closing was long overdue!
