TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! POLITICAL MANEUVERING BEHIND THE SCENES OF KANSAS CITY'S CONTROVERSIAL PLATTE COUNTY ANNEXATION!!!
Of course I don't blame suburbanites in Platte County for wanting to stay the hell out of Kansas City proper.
A recent annexation bid that involves a high dollar subdivision is currently creating quite a stir North of The River.
For on the record background on this hot mess check out the website: Noto500homes.com. The Platte County Landmark has also done a bit of editorializing on the subject, good luck maneuvering their crappy web architecture.
Still, I find this struggle interesting because I think Kansas City stomping all over the rights of white people is a nice change of pace.
Here's the most interesting part of a recent editorial that speaks to the subject:
"The Citizens of Platte County have growing concerns with a proposed development in our County. For the past two years, our County Commissioners, Planning and Zoning and the concerned Citizens of Platte County have heavily weighed the impact of this "City in and of Itself" known as Tomahawke Ridge being proposed for Platte County, where the infrastructure is clearly not present, nor planned, nor budgeted for, nor reconciled for long term sustainability for the building of some 657 new homes in rural Platte County.First of all . . . Awesome TKC Tipsters are saying that this project is Council Dude Ed Ford's baby . . . I have no idea why he would want to push this thing through . . . Some folks are saying it might be a favor, and KC always wants to boost population numbers . . . But, as the editorial noted, providing services for this high dollar subdivision doesn't seem to be in anybody's interest.
Our City Commissioners have VOTED NO and are now being sued by the landowner for having made responsible decisions on behalf of the citizens of Platte City and surrounding rural communities whom will be strongly impacted by any poorly planned development within our County.
The City of KCMO has now been asked by the landowner to annex in some 300 acres as a deliberate end run around the Platte County Commissioners. If enabled by KCMO, this will clearly send the wrong message placing undue hardship on Platte County by burdening the very County that rightfully rejected this proposal, in the first place.
KCMO will need to be financially mindful, as to NOT approve this project and burden the "costs of providing and sustaining" required services to 657 Rural homes when already determined by VOTE this is clearly not in the best interest of Platte County. Our County was being fiscally responsible and this financial burden is not budgeted for, nor sustainable. We respectfully ask this RED FINANCIAL FLAG to not fall of deaf ears with KCMO during your review of this annexation request. And that you understand this is clearly an “End Run by the Landowner”, around our elected Commissioners.
Why would KCMO consider undermining our Commissioners? Where would be the integrity in this action if KCMO enabled a maneuver in which our County’s decisions are skirted by the landowner whom was told NO for the past two years. What good comes from these two fine Cities being at odds on this matter and the added financial burden? Stop and ask, who is the true beneficiary of this annexation request? Why, would the hardship of many Northland taxpaying citizens of KCMO be less weighted than the financial gain of one or two?"
One of the people putting up a lawsuit in this matter is BIG TIME Republican donor Hal Swaney. Ford is a pretty die hard Democrat so the connection there is tenuous but it's there . . . Also, AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS say "this plan is in direct opposition to the KCI Corridor Plan, which has been in place for more than two years, that was voted on and approved."
Bottom Line: Out North people are fighting HARD to stay away from Kansas City and avoid a money wasting development that gets taxpayer subsidies . . . For once, it might be worth listening to these voices.
Are we getting more white women?
