TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY'S AFRICAN-AMERICAN CLERGY CALL MEETING TO DISCUSS THE "REAL TRUTH" ABOUT CITY MANAGER CAUTHEN'S OUSTER!!!
Thank you AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS for several e-mails forwarded to me regarding a today's IMPORTANT meeting to discuss the Kansas City Hot Mess over the Cauthen Ouster.
An e-mail that went out last night reveals that the New President of the Concerned Clergy of Kansas City, Missouri Rev. Michael Brooks has called a meeting among his colleagues and the general public to talk about City Manger Cauthen getting thrown out on the street.
(Today) Wed. Nov. 2 @ 2 in the PM the Zion Grove Baptist Church will host a community forum on the topic of the "palace coup" that replaced the City Manager.
Zion Grove is located 2801 Swope Parkway
A Methodist Ministers Group is involved along with a collection of Baptist Ministers "& others."
I tend to agree with more public discussion of the Cauthen Kick Out only because the way the City Hall Council people conducted this move was secretive and without input from any contingent of the local community.
NOTE TO CITY HALL SCUMBAGS: THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TALK ABOUT "TRANSPARENCY" IS NOTHING MORE THAN A CAMPAIGN PROMISE AND GOVERNANCE IS CONDUCTED BEHIND CLOSED DOORS!!!
Seriously, the public and voters from throughout Kansas City have the right to be heard on this one.
And who knows? Maybe the discussion will take a productive one that finds a way to move forward without the City Manager?
But what I'm hoping for is a real discussion of holding politicos accountable for their undercover actions . . . Along with yet another demonstration that the Cauthen complainers have a great deal of merit to their cause but until they become more involved in politics at the ground level they will always be confined to bitching from the edge of town.
Most importantly . . . Folks in charge of the Cauthen Coup had to expect some kind of repercussions given that karma, the Golden Rule and payback have always been an integral part of life in Kansas City.
Good Lord.
ReplyDeleteThis is the public meeting. The "real" meeting happened last week. You and your KICKASS TIPSTERS need a late pass.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be awesome if these guys would get this riled up over the fact that their neighbors can't seem to stop shooting each other before moving on to all these other issues?
ReplyDeleteThe fact that they are even having this discussion is exactly what is wrong with black Kansas City. Heaven forbid any accountability for the murder rate or stop snitchin' campaigns. Instead get all fired up when some Uncle Tom who could give a shit about black people in this town gets fired.
ReplyDeleteThe ignorant deserve the poverty and blight that they have.
Let the Eastside burn.
Nother case where the comments are the best read!
ReplyDeleteThe story is HERE!
shame that these folks can't fight the real problems in their community.
ReplyDeletedey be gettin on dem bow ties again
ReplyDeleteWHAT AN AMAZING DISGRACE. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY WOULD STOOP TO THIS LEVEL OF HYPORCISY. YOU SHOULD NOT SUPPORT THIS TONY. THIS IS NOT IN THE BEST INTERST OF KANSAS CITY.
ReplyDeleteIt is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
ReplyDeleteStupid nigs just need another reason to protest (see hijack) the rest of the community. So their local coon got ousted, so what?
ReplyDeleteSo you're now a Cauthen cheerleader, Tony? Seems like you couldn't spread enough vitriol about the guy two weeks ago, and now that the ministers are gettin they bow ties on, you're on the bandwagon.
ReplyDeleteWell that's good they have something new to cry about. The P&L dress code thing is winding down and without any significant complaints (never mind the murder rate, the pregnancy rate, and the pathetic state of unemployment on the East side) they're bored.
The citizens of KC who have been paying attention do not agree that this was a "coup". We have been watching the mismanagement of this city and the financial bottom line crumbling. Anyone who hasn't been watching has NO RIGHT to be upset now. PAY ATTENTION or shut up! And, of course, we all know that the race card will be played no matter what, it's such an old and tired story. Tony, this is the most hypocritical article you've ever written. If anyone would've done this to get rid of the mayor (and I'm no fan of his either) you would've led the parade down Main St.
ReplyDeleteIt only has to be a palace coup if he won't go quietly. Every other City Manager has resigned when he wasn't wanted by the mayor. Cauthen race-baited this city for 6 years. Let's all move on.
ReplyDeleteAsk all the directors he let go years ago how much respect and transparency there was in their firing. Ask them how respected they felt as they were led out of City Hall in disgrace for doing nothing wrong. They just weren't the people Cauhen wanted running the departments. Hmmm, you're right Tony, sounds like the karma does have a way of biting you in the ass.
ReplyDeleteShit...if you want anything remotely resembling Kansas City 'news', this is the last place to get it. If it weren't for the titty pics, lil' tonz wouldn't get any hits at all.
ReplyDeleteDamn same. Tony is THAT close to having a useful and entertaining 'local color' resource here. Unfortunately, his obsession with 'color' is what makes this place as useless as tits on a clawhammer.
Rave on, Jose Sharpton. Soon you'll be talking to yourself.
I guess you can't fire an balck person anymore. Sounds like a good reason not to hire one in the first place.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many unqualified morons in the KCMO Schools that they CAN'T fire for fear of lawsuits, civil rights violations and other special interests.
This only harms the kids, but they don't really matter, right? Someone needs to put the fries in the package.
Cauthen is gone because he is incompetent, its purely coincidental that he's black. We will be paying for his incompetence for years to come...keep on meeting "bow ties". Good job Council Ladies!!
ReplyDeleteWill be interesting to see if the group of leaders Grant, Mann, Adams, etc., that met at the mayors house just days after the firing will show up.
ReplyDeleteThis just proves we'll never have a black president --- oh, shit, wait!
ReplyDeleteSeems that some of this posing could be used to help stop the killings on the east side. Cauthern lived in a penthouse across from the library. Never saw east of Troost other than in a Limo.
ReplyDeleteThey really need to leave this alone and move on. There is nothing they can do to bring Cauthen back. They got rid of him. He is gone. Cauthen will be better than ok. He is going back to Colorado $300k richer. Some say that he wanted out of kc anyway. They did him a favor.
ReplyDeleteQuestions that aren't being asked:
ReplyDelete1) Why was Cauthen fired?
2) Was Cauthen fired merely for incompetence?
3) Was it gross incompetence?
4) Was he fired because of any illegalities (which has been suggested)?
5) If there were illegalities, what were they? And were they felonious, as has also been suggested?
6) Why aren't these questions being asked?
7) Why don't the citizens of KCMO care about these questions and their answers?
8) Why isn't the Star asking these questions? Isn't that what the "Fourth Estate" is supposed to be for?

The politicos may have deemed it easier to can Cauthen and put up with a little flak from the small number of his misdirected yet vocal supporters than be directly implicated in what many think were illegal deals that were made. Maybe an investigation by the AG is underway and the conspirators are trying to cover up their tracks. As in the H&R Block case, the perpetrators of the offense, the developer/contractor and the TIF Commission jointly arrived at a "settlement agreement" that erased developer penalties and absolved both parties without liability. It was like thieves, who were caught in the act, being allowed (by Cauthen and his elected and non elected supporters)to judge if a crime was actually committed. What other similar circumstances exist? Will this be in the "Real Truth" we are going to hear today?
ReplyDeleteCauthen was fired because Deb Hermann and company couldn' stand the putrid Cauthen any more. The Funk hated him from when he was City Auditor and blinly and stupidly went after Cauthen when he first got to sit in the Mayor's Chair.... fecklessly, rudely and in such a vulgar duplicitous manner that he united the City Council and inadventantly got them to extend Cauthen's contract rather that assisting in ridding the City of this parasite. Years later and after much more incompetence and harm to the City, Deb figured this out and assembled the votes needed to do the deed... nothing to do with the feckless funk who stood by and watched while Cauthen got the shoe. Maybe the Fuk got Cauthen carted out with a police escort which would again remind us of how petty and vindictive a person he has always been. It is amusing to see that the Funk has taken no credit for the ousting of Cauthen... wonder why?
ReplyDeleteActually what will be interesting to see the new defacto temporary City Manager Schulte in action. Will he act as vindictively as the Funk did when he came to power? Will Schulte squash everyone in his way? Will he organize the CM Office as a prvate fiefdome or will he try to serve the Citizens.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the best is yet to come... or the worst. Certainly we will get to see the results soon enough.
Interesting to note that the usually clueless and inept Council handeed over the City's most important position without either a public hearing/debate and/or one of the usual National Searches.
ReplyDeleteWhat gives?
inafunkabouthefunk said it best. It will be interesting to see what happens next at City Hall. Deb Herman has Schulte's nuts in a lockbox and she has the keys. Now he MUST dance with date he came with.
ReplyDelete01:39. Schulte is a TEMPORARY appointee -- some one has to be acting when Cauthen is out. Would you have preferred Rich Noll???? Even the council was smart enough to pass over that idiot!
ReplyDeleteAlso, 01:33. Cauthen was escorted out by SECURITY, not police. Just like all the employees that Cauthen laid off in April -- that is SOP to keep the un-employed from wreaking havoc to the city systems on their way our the door. It is SOP for ALL types of businesses, private and public, you idiot.
It was highly unprofessional action taken by ineffective and scared people.
ReplyDeleteThe Clergy is right. Kansas City must remember the actions of ALL City Council people and the Mayor.
Throw the bums out.
the clergy is decidedly not "right" on this, in all likelihood but we have to wait and see what they say. if it's just more of the "he was fired because of his color", that won't hold water. We'll see, for sure.

If anybody attended the meeting please tell us here what you heard. We can't trust the mainstream media to give an accurate account.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe no one is commenting on the picture linked to this story......
ReplyDeleteKansas City apartheid, Lord help us!
It is amazing that people are all riled up about this situation. City Manager's do not typically work for long periods of time in one place. They know that when economic times change they will have to step up quickly to make improvements or move on. Cauthen just moved the money like he was playing checkers, he didn't implement the last budget. He knew how to take direction from Barnes, not how to lead a City, and that became glaringly apparent once Barnes was gone. Eddy was his bigest cheerleader on the council, which is why he called him back. Eddy is good about doing the dirty work. A normal CM would have resigned, as they all do, but not this one, he needed to get every dime he could from KC on his way out the door. It was worth whatever it costs, just get him out! (Besides, we'll save $140,000 a year from Eddy's salary alone!)
ReplyDeleteexcept we wouldn't save $140,000.00a year until after a year since Cauthen is getting that $250,000.00 on his contract on top of what Schulte's getting.
ReplyDeletethe question is, did Cauthen do anything illegal?
Mo Rage
Anybody know how much Ed Wolf got from Funky and Squid.
ReplyDeletePflow,
ReplyDeleteSince when do you have to do something illegal to be fired? I am quite certain he did, but do you want the accusations out there so that the city will have to go to court and spend more millions proving it or do you want to accept that he was no longer performing for the City and 7 votes concluded that he needed to go. That happens on every job. People are fired every day without doing anything illegal, but simply not working up to job standards. So, I hope no one wastes one more dime than necessary. Pay him his severance and be done with him. And curse the 9 people who gave him that ridiculous contract to begin with.
you absolutely don't have to do anything illegal to be fired and I haven't made accusations. Others have made them and I'm asking--because it was never said by anyone, publicly--why was the City Manager fired? The Mayor didn't say why, nor did the Council. He was a public employee, paid with public money, both during and now after his tenure. They owe it to us to say why he was let go. That's my stand and there isn't an accusation in it, thanks very much.
