The Star's Spotlight Is Mostly Biased

I just want to do a quick review of big media behavior before I grab a bowl of Fruit Loops and play video games for 4 hours . . . It's important to have priorities.

Thanks to the efforts of the blogosphere, my work and insightful writers like RDM . . . Kansas City knows that big media in this town cover Missing White Women more earnestly than anything else.

But there are other, minor examples of their bias and the fact that prized "journalistic objectivity" is nothing more than a myth.

This week while The Star newsies were getting ready to celebrate their holiday in JoCo it seems that they had a good time noting a DUI of a former co-worker.

It was "breaking news" (not really) the scumbags didn't bother to mention KC Confidential (to which TKC contributes) and instead focused on a JoCo paper . . . YES, they are THAT afraid of the Internets and they will go to any ridiculous length to downplay other online news sources.

Anyhoo . . . This got me thinking that the paper of record and Star Publisher Mark Zieman conveniently overlooked the DUI adventures of his own wife.

Let's review:

In fact, TKC was the first to bring mugshot goodness to the forefront.

There were a few excuses after the fact and a bit of backpedaling but, in the end, there's no denying that they buried the story. To be fair, they were upfront about the allegedly drunken antics of one of their crime reporter's offspring but put the report in the back pages.

The point here is that the average person will have their face splattered all over the pages of The Star at the behest of these JoCo based newsies but people close to management will mostly get preferential treatment . . . No objectivity, no real policy . . . Just the whim of the people in charge . . . Very much EXACTLY LIKE A BLOG!!!

  2. Whereas I suggested that you rush to put the bone on Becky Nace, there is no need to do the same to Mrs. Zeiman. Good lucky with Becky, T :)

  3. The Star is playing what's known as hardball.

Is it going to let Hearne take shots at it day after day? Since it's not going anywhere and it knows it...no, it is not.

    So, it is playing hardball.

Prairie Village threw the Star a fat pitch and The Star hit it out of the park.

It will probably cover his divorce.

Also, as for having friends in management? That's just not how The Star is....that's how LIFE is.

  4. @ 3:53

That is obviously a wise comment from a CURRENT Star employee and I have to say that it is 100% correct.

Tony if you are going to post the mugshot of the African American woman you really need to post the mugshot of the White Guy .... unless you are a racist.
