Fighting Supremacy in the P&L District

Mahoney blog has some important scoop and let's us all know that the fight against discrimination at the "Isle of White" P&L District continues:
"Attorney Arthur Benson says he's filing a civil rights suit alleging racial profiling continues in the Power and light entertainment district in Kansas City.

the entertainment district, owned by the Cordish Corp, and supported with taxpayer dollars has been the source of discrimination charges for the last year.

Earlier this year, the City Council debate and then approved a general dress code for entertainment districts like the Power and Light district.

According to Benson, a group of African-American family members were denied admission to certain sports in the district based on their style of dress."
Remember that earlier last month TKC Chronicled additional complaints of bias at the P&L District along with the fact the P&L District failed recent Human Relations Spot Tests for discrimination and bias against African-Americans and Latinos.

Real Talk: Year after year The P&L District loses money consistently so there's no evidence that being such a racist establishment is working to their benefit. It might be worth a try to open the doors to all of KC in order to actually start making a buck.

On the other hand . . . Most initiatives involving Arthur Benson end up being complete and exorbitantly expensive disasters.

  1. Tony you take credit for everything reported in KC.

If you don't get the info before it hits the media you take credit for providing the basis for it.

  2. I saw the press conference. Smith didn't even know what the dress code is? ridiculous.....

  3. It is only a matter of time before this place explodes into violence like Westport.

  4. He did get it before because I gave it to him. And this group went with mr. Benson but there are others who have not retained him. Cordish could have avoided all of this...

  5. Yancy. On your last point you are 100% correct.

  6. This is also the same woman who admitted that one person in her group did not meet the dress code requirements, THEN turned around and asked the bouncer if they were hiring bartenders.
    Hmmm......

  7. You know the sad thing about all this is, if there is a problem at power & light it should be addressed. But what I think negates some of their arguement is when the people alleging discrimination have to validate their claim with "we're business professionals" or "we have a degree". Why is this important as it relates to the dress code.....it's not. But they want to validate who they are and what these folks don't get. We don't care if you are a professional with or without a degree. Just follow the rules and you go to the district to party. Seems simple to me.

And Arthur Benson, the guy that sued the KCMO school district and caused the citizens to pay billions and billions of money for education for what......the same school problems or worse. Proof? Look at the fight today that the news video shows. Benson, again looking for a buck and again it will likely be not just Cordish but the citizens of KC who pay when P&L district fails!!

So very much drama in the town's new shiny food court.

  9. Cordish will grind that asshole Benson into oblivion and when everyone recalls that Art is the asshole that ruined the KCMOSD they'll (CORDISH) have even more advocates than they have now.

Fact is more people like the P&L than are against it and you and others enjoy using it as a lightning rod.

Just as with Obama's stupidity re FOX News, every time people hear about P&L it HEIGHTENS their interest and as most have observed if they go down there dressed right and not cause trouble they'll get in.

EVERYONE GETS IN - I'VE BEEN THERE TO SEE IT OVER AND OVER - BUT THEY CAN"T LOOK OR ACT LIKE THE IDIOTS IN WESTPORT.

  13. Benson ruined the KCMO School District, made millions and then sent his daughter to Pembroke Hill...greedy hypocrite...still trying to destroy this City.

So we built an area to better downtown Kansas City and this is the thanks we get?

Niggers and chiggers demanding that we lower our standards to let in the people we wanted to avoid in order to make money? I mean, really, do we want a bunch of welfare grubbing turds spending taxpayer dollars in a taxpayer dollar subsidized location? No we want real money!

You hangers on have opportunities to open a business around this area and integrate to the rest of the money making society. But you don't, do you? You just cry your eyes out and want everyone to accept your marginal lifestyle.

Are we going to give you people the downtown you deserve? Crime, violence, decaying lives? Yup, pretty soon until your learn your place and work around the margins.

  18. Have your district to yourselves, animals. We'll let you have dog fights and cock fights to placate the people that want to tear down the place.

We'll just go on back to Johnson County and the outer areas of Jackson county and hold underground parties and home based entertainment.

We'll leave you to drown in your own blood and watch your efforts dribble down the sewer and bubble back up for everyone's enjoyment.

When you tear this place down to your level it will still be on your backs to pay the bonds back.

Not surprising. Niggers fuck up everything.

  20. how is carrie stapelton and phillips west going to get the P&L folks out of this one?

    ReplyDelete
  21. For anyone who has not been to the power and light... Most of the folks employed to enforce the dress code are people of color... This whole race issue is crap.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Carrie Stapleton is part of the problem. From my understanding, the top brass at Cordish don't value her opinion or follow her advice, recommendations or suggestions. Emiel Cleaver and Shawn Edwards made asses of themselves and embarassed Philips West at the hearing when they disrespected Carol Coe. I have no personal problem with either of them(despite them defending discrimination), but they were all the way out of line that day.
