TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SCHOOLS STAY LOSING!!! OVERALL DISTRICT FAILS TO MEET 3 OUT OF 4 PRELIMINARY ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS GOALS!!!

Reporting from the The Kansas City Star is keeping people stupid, very much like The Kansas City Missouri Public School District.

In what has to be one of the biggest reporting, news gathering disgraces I've seen in quite a long time . . . KCMSD propaganda was disseminated to the public with virtually no questions asked.

The Preliminary Adequate Yearly Progress Reports from The State of Missouri came out recently and rather than do any research, most local newsies simply reported what the District wanted without even a modicum of research. The Star highlights individual schools today but I have a strong suspicion that they're basically just using crib notes provided by district officials because the news all has a positive spin and (as of this writing) there's no mention of the overall failure.

So, after doing literally a ten minute Google search TKC discovered an interesting fact that has so far went unreported and not highlighted at all in Kansas City News Coverage on AYP test results for the KCMSD.

THE KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT FAILED TO MEET 3 OUT OF 4 ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS GOALS IN PRELIMINARY TESTING!!!

Everywhere, lazy reporters are simply printing PR copy and failing to do any research.

Thank you Internets . . . Because now KC residents aren't at the mercy of propaganda and reporters based in the suburbs who really don't care anyway.

LOOK FOR YOURSELF AT OVERALL KCMSD FAILURE:

  • In Communication Arts Status KCMSD failed to meet AYP goals.

  • In Mathematics Status KCMSD failed to meet AYP goals.

  • On the bright side, KCMSD DID MEET AYP Goals, but this happened back in 2006 as well. And really, all this means is that the school district knows their funding depends on attendance so they're making sure that more students are showing up to crappy schools.

  • Finally, the KCMSD GRADUATION RATE DID NOT MEET AYP GOALS!!!

  • Again, the resources are easily available on the Internets . . . Look at the Missouri School Improvement Plan Data and it's easy to see the statistical shell game played by the KCMSD. Or, check out the school-by-school AYP data.

Unfortunately, stories of "progress" are all that the local media irresponsibly tout.

The reality of the situation is that nobody cares enough to do a modicum of research. Kansas City has already "voted with their feet" on the KCMSD. What's left after a mass exodus that continues to this day is nothing more than lies and misdirection.

THANKS TO THIS TKC SPECIAL INVESTIGATION THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S DECEPTION IS CLEAR!!!

Local media was either too lazy or do unconcerned to do anything resembling real research that's easily available online in order to challenge propaganda.

Thankfully, TKC readers know better than to simply accept press releases at face value. Natch.

    3. Good stuff. Obviously still a great deal of work to be done.

    4. The numbers for the previous years are in the 2009 report. There are reasons to be happy about improvement Tony. It's not all bad news. You can't fault the district for trying to highlight their progress.

    6. So what are YOU going to do about it Tony? I don't see you working to make KC schools better.

    7. You are blasting district personnel for low attendance rates? When I was a kid in the 50’s and 60’s my mother, who worked fulltime and took college classes at night, got up early, fixed a hot breakfast, and made sure my sister and I got on the school bus. We had to be REALLY sick to miss a day. Three years ago I was assigned to call the homes of absent KCMSD elementary students. When I could actually get a hold of someone, usually an auntie or grandmother, I’d hear excuses like “Her daddy went to jail last night and she was up late and too tired to come”. I actually have heard parents of third graders shout out to their kid, “Why didn’t you go to school today?”. Tony, this is a cultural/social problem that does not happen in suburban and rural districts. Stop beating up on dedicated teachers and focus more on the failures of low life parents.
