A quick thought to start the day . . . Without question the Internets is the future of newsgathering and everything else.
Attacking the dead tree news model is hardly worth the time anymore because the suits have given up on the idea . . . This totally dates me but I remember the world before CDs and I remember how fast tapes disappeared as the dominant platform for music.
We're in the middle of it now . . . As corporate speculators are grabbing talent from old (and new) media institutions.
Even better, on the local level former newsies are now taking the Internets . . . More on this later.
There's no guarantee that any of this is going to be profitable and any seasoned web veteran knows that starups are a dime a dozen . . . But I'm just happy to see the era of the big ass dead tree paper dictating the discourse has been put behind us and in some small sense (very small) there's an interesting idea in play which claims that everyone shares a somewhat (but not really) level playing field with corporate giants that have a lot of money but don't always understand how the Internet works.
Better eat that ass while it's good!!!
