TAKE A LOOK AT A KANSAS CITY MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT $100K LUXURY OZARK RETREAT!!!

Russ Ptacek of NBC Action News brings some AMAZING REPORTING that shows there is no real progress on the horizon for The Kansas City Missouri School District.

CHECK OUT PTACEK TAKING A PEEK AT THE LUXURY RESORT HOSTING A RETREAT FOR THE KANSAS CITY MISSOURI SCHOOL DISTRICT!!! HE REPORTS THAT THE BUDGET IS AT MORE THAN 100K!!!

The video Ptacek captures makes the place look almost as sweet as recent Jennifer Connelly bikini photos.

I'm convinced this is going to be a ground breaking story that CLEARLY demonstrates there is little effort going into turning around KC's School District . . .

And I know there might be some knee jerk reaction from defenders of the political employment agency among African-American elites known as The School District so

TKC HAS SOME EXCLUSIVE DETAILS AS TO THE FOOD BUDGET OF THIS LUXURY GETAWAY FOR THE KCMSD:

The first two days of the food budget for this retreat seems high but reasonable and comes in at: $13,750 for all meals combined on that day.

HOWEVER, CHECK OUT THE SUNDAY NIGHT BANQUET EXTRAVAGANZA FOR THE KCMSD ON SUMMER VACATION!!!

IN AN UNFORGIVABLE ACT OF GLUTTONY KCMSD SPENDS $8,250 FOR A SUNDAY FEAST!!!

Again . . . Let's put this in perspective . . .

THAT'S AN ESTIMATED $20K FOR A FOOD BUDGET SPENT ON A KCMSD RETREAT THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HELD IN KANSAS CITY!!!

It's important to put this in perspective regarding recent teacher layoffs and school closings . . . While all of The Kansas City Missouri School District suffers under cutbacks, continued poor test scores and random violence . . . Administrators, some School Board Members and The New Superintendent are living it up.

It's really unforgivable and shows all hope for change as a lie when it comes to this Kansas City Institution.

More than anything else the AMAZING reporting reporting from Russ Ptacek provides even more evidence that the district needs to be taken over by the State.

  1. Tony, this is something that's more important than that Mammy nonsense.

  3. This is great reporting Tony. The local media have known for decades all the stupidity of the KC School Board but did not report it. The Star has historically let the city down because in never reports these things to us. thanks Tony.

  4. First off - why is this news?

Companies do off site training all the time for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, its less distracting for attendees to be off site. Additionally, it builds morale and comraderie - something I think even YOU would admit is sadly lacking in KCMSD facilities. Add reason A to reason B and you, theoretically come up with better results from your team members attending the training.
It ain't called professional development for notin ya know.

Lastly, and certainly not least (especially here) the state provides PD (professional development) funds to EACH AND EVERY DISTRICT IN THE STATE so they can conduct seminars EXACTLY LIKE THIS for teachers and administrators - on site or off!!!

As for Russ Ptacek - he went for the low hanging fruit and the easy stab at the already much maligned KCMSD.
Its a non-story. He (Ptacek) and you (Tony) need to wise up when it comes to sensationalizing "stories" such as this. (Is it sweeps week???)

I'll be willing to bet if the Independence district or the Center district did the same thing, it'd be a non-news event. But since KCMSD did it, its all cloak and dagger, evil KCMSD is (once again) mis-spending taxpayer dollars.

But God forbid Ptacek should show footage of an attendee at this conference that benefits from this seminar and transfers the material to their classroom and or building, thusly benefitting a KCMSD student.
Oh, but that ain't news now is it.

Ptacek and you need to sit down and get the FACTS straight. But if that happend, neither one of you would have a freakin story, and we can't have FACT get in the way of a good story now can we.

Geezus - get it freakin straight - both of ya.

  5. I don't think the 100k figure was pulled out of thin air, and it doesn't take a genius to understand that that is extremely excessive for a short seminar where they eat feasts while speakers talk about synergy and other unproductive b.s.

  7. KC Schools could have done this in Kansas City.

KC Schools could have saved money and not waste.

KC Schools could have put students and teachers first.

    But they didn't.

  8. 6:34 is obviously a member of the School District trying to defend their stupid actions anonymously.

  9. I think that Sportster must be texting from the retreat site. No school district in AMerica should be taking this kind of retreat. For 100K they could have kept two tenured teachers or three new teachers on salary for a year. PLEASE don't tell me they need to get away from it all to "synergize". Bullshit. The district deserves to go under. I have lost all faith.

  10. Not hardly Mr. 9:40. Guess again.
Do your freakin homework for cryin out loud. Go ask any district official in ANY area district how much they receive in state PD funds. This ain't news.
Its a couple of wolves tryin to kill the wounded zebra. That's it.

  13. If Independence were to do this, it wouldn't be an issue for a couple reasons:
    - the students who graduate can read beyond a 4th grade level
    - Independence is accredited
    - Indy isn't laying off teachers.

Using the excuse, "Everyone is doing it" doesn't fly. That's like a crackhead on welfare buying a Rolex watch with the excuses that "other people are buying them".

The school district is broke, and it's painfully obvious that the KCSD has no interest in fixing it.

  15. No one's watching the store. And it's not just KCMSD.

This is big news and poor judgment on the part of our new Muscle Milk-drinking superintendent (who will be gone in 18 months).

No district should be having $100K retreats to "synergize" when they are laying staff.

    Arrogant fools.

    ReplyDelete
  16. er, laying off staff.

    Oops.

    ReplyDelete
  17. They probably are "laying staff," too, but that's another story.

  18. does anyone know how to avoid giving the school district our tax money for doing this stupid bull shit of going out of town for building up the team. come on what about the kids and teachers

  19. Tony you are so off base on this it makes you look like a poor journalist. First of all, fajitas are not a luxury meal. And they sucked. Then on Monday it was pasta with no meat for lunch and burgers and hot dogs for dinner. Tuesday it was sandwiches for lunch and some crummy chicken that I buy at Price Chopper and tastes better.

You are off on Covington as well. This training was booked months ago before he was even hired.

And the money as the above comment says was Title I money that cannot be spent on salaries and would have been returned to the Feds had it not been spent. Would you rather see the district not spend the money at all? Something tells me your little blog would be all over that story.

Now I don't know who told you the school board was there because they were not.

Do some actual investigating, Mr Botello, before you report made up nonsense. There are plenty of stories to tell about the KCSD but this ain't one of them.

  20. Would you rather see the district not spend the money at all?

    ------------

Why not spend the money on the students? This kind of mentality from School District people is repugnant.

  21. Who is responsible for the high concentration of poor households located in the kansas city School District? How did this happen?

When you honestly research KC's history for the answers, you will understand how hate and race issues from the early 1900's to present have prevented the city from attaining growth and respectability among cities its size, nationally.

Many of the unenlightened comments and views expressed on this blog indicate the people living here don't understand the history of this area, and will continue to be ill-equipped to help move this City out of its past.

The School District is Black and popoulated by the poorest residents of the area. I wasn't born here and can get it -- why can't you understand the real problem?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous at 5:16, these funds were mandated for professional development, not classrooms. That's why they weren't spent on kids or teacher salaries. If you disagree with that, your beef is with the US Dept of Education, not the KC School District.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stupid reporting by Russ - so some of the attendees visited a local night club after a full day of training and bought themselves a few cocktails - this wasn't tax payers dollars. I've attended training seminars while working for many corporations and believe it or not, we might get together for a drink after the training. This is not news. Also, the DESE influenced group KCRPDC was the group that initiated the training.
KCMSD is trying to do everything the state (DESE) is indicating they should do and this PD was something encouraged by DESE through the KCRPDC.
