No joke in this one folks just a reminder that for the rest of this Summer, there's no doubt that every end to the week is going to bring more violence, death and disparity to Kansas City.
The worst part of it is that nothing seems to be changing.
And on the topic of disparity there's an interesting angle to this weekend's round of killing and two ways to approach the topic . . .
A Kansas lawyer lady killed over the weekend earned a great deal of media coverage and popular attention . . . The next day another stray shooting didn't evoke the same level of panic . . . Guess the reason for yourself but I think it's clear that it all relates back to race & class which are the favorite subjects of TKC.
Anyhoo . . . An interesting theory was sent my way involving the first white lady to unfortunately run into a Kansas City stray bullet . . . There's the argument that the white lady shooting on 71 wasn't exactly random and the NECK SHOT INDICATES THAT SOMEBODY WAS AIMING AT CARS PASSING BY . . . But because it was a white lady killed in a predominantly Black neighborhood this frightening fact is being swept under the rug and written off as random violence when that might not be the case . . . Note: It's not just minorities who invoke claims of violence and you'd be surprised to note the high level source of this speculation which I'm never revealing. I'm simply reporting this Internet chatter as a reflection of the talk that's circulating through Kansas City on the subject.
What's more important to me is disproving the childish notion that the Kansas City death count only impacts the "bad" parts of town and people of color who this town likes to ignore anyway . . . Obviously this isn't that case and time and time again it's demonstrated that violence in one part of town doesn't always obey the cultural boundaries that most of us like to respect.

ReplyDeleteYour source has a much higher estimation of east side sniper skills than I do. If somebody decides to start taking pot shots at cars on 71 and manages to take out a white lady with the first shot, I'm guessing that was more attention than the shooter was hoping for.

ReplyDeleteA neck shot indicates nothing other than the fact that's where the lady got hit. Anybody with a basic knowledge of exterior ballistics would make a fool of your 'source' in court or anywhere else.
