Here is some horrible news about local real estate from Forbes:
The Kansas City metro area tops our list of America's Abandoned Cities. In Kansas City, rental vacancy rates rose from 11.9% to 15% over the past year; homeowner vacancy rates nearly doubled, up from 2.1% to 3.8%. Comparatively, the average homeowner vacancy rate in the country's 75 largest metro areas improved slightly from 3% to 2.7%, while the rental vacancy rate edged up to 10.2% from 10% a year ago.The link and news is burning up Facebook today as the young, upwardly mobile and Internet savvy (not me) are having a second thoughts about this empty and struggling burg.

ReplyDeletelook at the abuse that citizens have to put up with trash pickup always an issue, red light cameras, schools, roads in poor shape, snow removal questionable, and then we have a city manager and city council that wants to build 1,000 room hotel.

Who gives a shit? The point that Raven makes in her post is good and this news about all of the vacant houses in Kansas City sucks.
ReplyDeleteWe should try to help our City and work on important issues that matter. That goes for you too Tony, so much time on the Mayor is wasted when we can be moving forward to fix more important problems like schools, infrastructure, housing and healthcare.
comparing San Francisco to Kansas City is just effing brilliant. What a joke... KC has an entirely different set of problems. There are entire city blocks in the eastside that are abandoned. Those old houses are uninhabitable and should be bulldozed. Those abandoned houses were simply tools for scumbags to refinance and take a and yes Tony, some of those scumbags are white!
