Kansas City Vacant

NBC Action News reports: "A sharp drop in revenue from the city's hotel occupancy tax led to layoffs this week at the Kansas City Convention & Visitor's Association. The association announced it is combining two departments and reducing its full-time staff from 47 to 39 employees, according to a release from the association."

Huh . . . I wonder if this agency could have used the money from The La Raza Convention that could have been in KC this year? Unfortunately, KC's most unpopular Mayor of the modern era chased them away so I guess it doesn't matter.

  2. What a waste of taxpayer money. 47 employees doing what the hotels should be doing.

  5. Huge Convention Office. Huge Convention Center. Huge Entertainiment area. New Arena. Cheap airlines. Central location. Nice people. But still no consistent visitor industry (lots of jobs could be added in the hospitality sector).

What were people thinking when they didn't get more hotels in the pipeline.

That Concention Assoc and the P&L are on the road to oblivion if the hotel doesn't get done.
