Way too cold and waiting for Springtime in Kansas City. I recently stumbled upon a photo of the old Katz Drugstore that seems to capture the mood of this evening. For more awesome photos like this, check out kocojim's photostream and don't forget to take a quick peek at the history of the Katz Drugstore and the architect, Clarence Kivett, who designed it and a lot of classic buildings in the Kansas City area.

What a dump.
ReplyDeleteYes so much of a dump its on Kansas City's list of historic buildings.
ReplyDeleteback in the day, with the big black cat sign, it was the bomb, man. as a kid, the store felt huge with stuff upstairs and down. westport was a safer place then too.
ReplyDeletekatz had another store at 75th and Metcalf that was two-story as well. not designed by Kivett...
gone, gone, gone...
They had a two-story building at Independence Avenue and Hardesty as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd the beat goes on...
When I go to work at my real job, and see other people doing real work, I am reminded from time to time that silly hipsters spend their time being artsy fartsy taking time-lapse photos of other people working.
ReplyDeleteKind of reminds me when I was on the FAFSA tit in college. Only I grew up.
