Devon Aoki is one of the world's shortest supermodels and she's adorable not only because she's hot but also because she has challenged stereotypes and shown that sometimes people want to see short women show off their ass . . . And then there's Kansas City - A small market town that just seems greedy nowadays.
To wit, a columnist for the for Sacramento Bee takes Kansas City and Jason Whitlock to school regarding our ambitions of stealing (back) their team and the reasons why the franchise left in the first place.
When I heard that Jason had written a column suggesting the Kings relocate to the new downtown arena, I thought, okay, why not? And then I remembered why the franchise left in the first place, mainly, because Kansas City was too small a market to support a third professional franchise. "Cotton (Fitzimmons) actually used to say the Kings were the fourth team in town," related Kings player personnel director Jerry Reynolds, who was coaching college ball in the area when Gregg Lukenbill brought the franchise to Sacramento in 1985. "He said it was the Chiefs, the Royals, college basketball, and Tom Watson, who was at the height of his career. Don't get me wrong. Kansas City is a great sports town. It's just a small market (31st in Nielsen rankings), smaller than Sacramento (20th)."Yet again sports fans, politicos and other misinformed people are either too afraid or embarrassed to realize that there are cold, hard economic fact that keep this town from getting another pro-sports franchise . . . It's not just a lack of will or effort but a dose of economic reality that has kept The Sprint Center Empty for so long . . . Ill-conceived, greedy scheming from people (like Whitlock) with eyes too big for their stomach is nothing more than bravado and doesn't have a basis in the real factors that drive sports (i.e. money) in Kansas City.
Nice, compact and tight package.
ReplyDeleteMan, I'd like to hang that on my peg and give it a spin.
Never let it be said that Whitlock's eyes are too big for his stomach.
