Good thing this guy lives somewhere in Raytown. The Firefighters have most powerful union in Kansas City and they don't take criticism lightly. Also, they've ended more than a few political careers. Calling for cuts is heresy when it comes to the most organized, outspoken and efficient voting bloc in Kansas City . . . Anybody taking on this group would need overwhelming public support and a vast network of political allies . . . There is NOBODY in Kansas City politics with power over the budget that fits that description. In other words, Yael is daydreaming in his recent post.

ReplyDeleteTony is right on! Yael obviously doesn't understand why the firefighters can't afford cuts! The extra firefighters added by the 2001 tax are for safety reasons. KCFD, up until that tax, and inadequately staffed fire companies. A lack of staffing was a major safety issue when you are sending in 1 firefighter to a fire by himself. Yael just sees a bloated budget with the FD and doesn't understand that KCFD is actually under funded and isn't properly covering the city as it is now. There is inadequate coverage in the northland and out east and now we are talking cuts? don't think the taxpayers of Staley Hills are gonna be happy!
