WHITE GUILT MAKES GREAT COPY!!!

Alonzo Washington is the probably one of the few people in Kansas City with the courage to call out The Star regarding their Sunday murder spread. Here's just a bit of what he wrote on the subject: "I have watched the KC Star try to cover something that they don't understand. The hood."

  1. The money quote from Alonzo's post:

"They (the star) have no clue on how to do a report about the crime in the inner-city without painting a picture that all Black people are criminals. They lost one of their greatest insights into understanding this problem. Me!"

In other words, had Alonzo (whose ego barely exceeds Tony's) had been quoted, then he wouldn't have bagged on Tony Rizzo's great piece. But because he wasn't consulted, The Star is racist.

With Alonzo and tony, it's always about them.

  2. Why is The Kansas City Star headed the way of the dodo bird and DiMaggio's DairyWay?

  3. The way I read it, most of that copy was generated from direct interviews and surveys with street killers who were born and raised in 64130.

Am I missing something here with a self-pimping whore like Alonzo Washington when he says the Star doesn't understand the hood? Would it have been better, perhaps, to interview residents of Olathe, Lee's Summit and Parkville?

Hard to tell which one of you sucks more. When the two of you are together in bed together, Tony, which one of you calls the other "Daddy"?

  5. Yeah the article could have dug deeper but it is a great start. I think it is worth looking into the factors that cause one zip code out of the entire state to produce the most murderers. Other zips are predominantly black, or poor or have bad schools and run down houses but it seems everything came together in the worst way at the worst time for this neighborhood and it is worth studying. If The Star only touched on part of the problem fine. Give them feedback or do your own research and unearth some more. I think the article did a great job stating the overall factors that contributed to the downfall of the area. What Alonzo is talking about is the lack of support systems that made it worse. Yes one couldn't happen without the other (if the neighborhood and families were stable they would insist on better schools and services and if there were better schools and services they could assist the family) but they have to be looked at seperatly in order to now target the solutions.
