From July 2007 to June 2008, Truman Medical Center has lost more than $85 million and expects loses of $92 million from July 2008 to June 2009. Don't blame Mexicans and the homeless either given that the CEO says, "Unpaid bills come from all parts of the hospital and come from all types of patients."

ReplyDeleteBuy I'll bet the highest percentage of uncollectable accounts are from illegals and the poor who use the ER as a substitute for paying for a doctor visit.

This is why I know Tony is full of shit. The majority of Truman's patients fall under 3 categories... Medicaid.. Medicare.. and Self-pay. Since Medicare and Medicaid pay their claims that leaves the self-pay or NO-Pay. The majority of those are blacks and illegal mexicans. That's not to say they are not a victim of their circumstances, it's just the fact. Illegal mexicans have overrun the TMC hospital and is the highest category of people receiving uncompensated care. TMC gets money from the city and county to serve Legal RESIDENTS of Jackson county and Kansas City. TMC DOES NOT get money from any government agency for illegal aliens. This group is one of the MAJOR reasons why TMC is losing money. John Bluford was just being kind to the illegals by saying "all types of patient". Now that is the truth. So, you see Mr. Tony COCK-a-Roach... illegal aliens are to blame for a collapsing healthcare system, for the collapse of the housing market, and for running this country into the ground. Quit trying to ignore the truth.

Ah..amazing what a few years does to any hospital. Sorry folks, but with OBAMA Care now being in the mix-even your lovely Menorah Medical Center and St. Lukes are SCRAMBLING...fighting for the Medicaid and Medicare monies in this city. In other words, Truman continues to be a safety net hospital for the indigent (you know, the place where the profitable hospitals send them to get them outta their hair)...BUT NOW everyone is fighting for those same indigent to keep their own doors open. IF THAT HAPPENS, Truman WILL go broke for sure. Hell, they are already overworking all their staff-anyone on Salary there is working almost morning noon and night with no pay raises in years (unless of course you are the CEO who got a 74% pay raise last year when he hasn't given his thousands of employees a raise in almost four years. NO, I AM NOT an employee-however, I am married to one so guess I can say these things. So you see, the "poor peoples hospital" is ALSO going broke because of the people who manage it needing to bring home 2-3 MILLION dollars a year while they prematurely "age" the faithful staff that they do have left there and have given their heart and soul to take care of these people.
