It's not like I really care what any of the d-bags who read this blog think . . . But I've noticed that a great many TKC READERS have encouraged me to take on other local politicos with the same zeal and awesomeness that I have used to (allegedly) beat down Mayor Funky to the point that he's now crying in public about his critics (of which I'm the meanest).
To wit, some information was recently sent my way that might satisfy the urges (ew) of TKC Readers to hate on somebody besides Mayor Funky for a change . . .
Nevertheless, I'm posting this as a blind item because I don't get paid for any of this garbage and close TKC readers can fill in the gaps while I gawk at a recent photo gallery of Brooke Burke in Razor Magazine . . . Just as long as we all get the point before The Star decides to "investigate" something that's already common knowledge.
Here goes . . . Remember that TKC has been the best source of info regarding the struggle of local contractors to hold huge Kansas City developers accountable for the promises they made upon receiving TIF money - Mainly the struggle to get big local companies to do the right thing and honor their MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) agreements without (allegedly) using "front" organizations either willingly or otherwise.
Well in much the opposite way that Coach Mike Shanahan won't be coming to Kansas City . . . TKC TIPSTERS have recently told me (about an hour ago) that the MBE controversy involves a lot of companies from Denver who may (or may not) have also served as "fronts" and the rumor circulating around City Hall right now is that a certain City Official connected to Denver has a very integral part to play in all of this . . . AGAIN, I'M NOT MENTIONING ANY NAMES!!! I COULD GIVE A DAMN ABOUT DENVER!!!
But I did want to give avid news readers an inside look at the gossip that's going around City Hall and information that reporters are chasing around right now.
Who knows what's going to come of all this . . . There is more than enough blame to pass around regarding the way that Kansas City has handled the MBE/TIF fiasco that is coming to a stunning conclusion this Spring (or sooner) . . . City Departments, incompetent officals and politicos turning a blind eye are not only responsible for KC's HUGE DEBT related to TIF but also for the fact that local minority contractors were not able to participate in the so-called "Downtown Renaissance" . . .
Now . . . If there is any weight to this story (there is, even if mainstream media ignores) . . . It could be pretty ground breaking and I want to SEND AN EXTRA SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO TKC TIPSTERS!!! for proving that this blog is about more than the failure of just one local politico . . . Instead, TKC provides late breaking, live and investigative news regarding the out of control downward spiral of Kansas city as a whole.
YOuz a dick T.
ReplyDeleteI like it.
I don't get paid for any of this garbage
ReplyDeleteWell that's certainly telling like it is.
Also, you could give a damn aboud Denver? Wow. Why don't you? It's "I couldn't give a damn."
Name the front companies.
ReplyDeleteName the certain city official.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise this is just more shining bogus copy from the Tony Botello School of Journalism.
Kudos to you, Tony. It has always baffled me why Wayne “The Insayne” Cauthen first hyped up an alleged need, sold his perception to the council and then influenced the non-competitive hiring of a very expensive out of town firm, MWH Global to lead the Capital Improvements Management Office “or CIMO. Guess where MWH Global and Wayne are from….that’s right, DENVER! Together the rocky mountain high team of Cauthen and MWH Global created a climate where city policies in contracting could be ignored. In a short time from now, Wayne will be gone and so will MWH Global. But the negative fallout to the minority business community and the city will remain.
ReplyDeleteThis is just one piece of a larger diabolical conspiracy to make certain that the Broncos will always kick the Chief’s asses on the football field.
ReplyDeleteHey Tony, thanks man! You’ve given me a great idea. I am a struggling minority contractor who has been playing by the rules; so naturally, I’m not getting any work here in KC. Obviously, I’ve been doing it all wrong. Can you pass this ad to the Classified section of the Denver Post: “ATTENTION GENERAL CONTRACTORS: Out of town minority contractor willing to whore himself out in order to help you meet your MBE goals on public projects. On days when I’m in touch with my feminine side, I can help meet your WBE goals. Will work for food and booze. Contact J.E. Dunn and H&R Block for valuable tips on how to structure an arrangement that will avoid public scrutiny and make you appear as good corporate citizens at the same time. The Tax Increment Finance Commission and the Human Relation Department of Kansas City can also provide assistance. If interested, please mail your proposals, pay advances and a bottle of Bacardi to the attention of the Colorado Attorney General’s office. For faster response, by sure to copy the U.S. Justice Department.”
ReplyDeleteWhat contract is MWH currently working under?
ReplyDeleteMWH was working on the CIMO team. They earned $4 to $6 million. I don't know if they are still involved or not. Now, the City Manager and some council members are contemplating hiring a capital "Czar" to do the same thing.
ReplyDeleteMWH alone earned $4 to $6 million? And you don't know when their contract ended? Not really down with actual facts are you.
ReplyDeleteTO anon from anon. Sorry, with all the crap going on at the city it is hard to follow each contract. But hey, you can go to kcmko.org and do all the fact checking yourself. Report back to us with the precise information. This is kinda like having a large hemorrhoid up your ass and some jerk is questioning whether it is 2.5 centimeters or 2.3 centimeters. No matter what, it is still a major pain in the ass.
ReplyDeleteWhat? I thought Anon.11:00 was the Czar of the Anti-CIMO group. I thought he would have all the facts lined up to back his argument that MWH was a non-compete bid (not true hence the bitterness of in town companies that did not get the contract) or that they created "...created a climate where city policies in contracting could be ignored.." (I think he means where you could ignore paying contractors when they did work and yeah, I would think this is a bad policy the city would want changed).
ReplyDeleteBitch about CIMO all you want but they got done more in their first three years than Public Works got done in 10. And before you start griping about the cost, tell me how much did it cost the City for years in salaries of do nothing employees wasting time and passing the buck of "Not my problem". But it's ok because now LOTS of do nothing employees are going to be cut. Good luck getting a real job.
So were they responsible for allowing a lax attitude towards the understructure of the apartments built on Gillham Road?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like everybody already figured out what was going on.
ReplyDeleteWhen will we read about it in The Star.
Were apartments a Capitol Improvement?
ReplyDeleteWhy is EVERYONE so afraid of Cauthen?????
ReplyDeleteNow that is the real question.
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone afraid of Cauthen?
ReplyDeleteHe knows where the bodies are buried...
