For quite some time now, The Pitch has been one of the most hostile media outlets toward people of color with even the slightest bit of noteriety in Kansas City.
I don't care how many Black dudes Nadia Pflaum dates (a lot) . . . Their "alternative" paper is a training ground for liberal, hipster d-bags with a lame sense of race relations that seems to be learned almost entirely from old Sarah Silverman videos.
And I won't even bother noting the fact that just about everything they blog appears first on TKC or State of the Line.
Also. . . As Print Media disappears and layoffs have left the shoe string paper without the full resources of their best reporters . . . Their lack of talent has now become even more apparent.
In their latest effort to jump on the blogger bandwagon . . . I'm pretty sure The Pitch crossed the line with an avatar that a few people of color (like me) might find offensive.
To be fair, I have no idea who that dude is . . . He could be a staffer or a freelancer . . . But I doubt it . . . And let's consider the possibility that it is: People will do a long of things for money and paying some dude to sacrifice dignity to promote a Twitter account ranks right up there with the jerks who pay folks to humiliate themselves on the street corner in order to promote tax services. I know times are hard, but c'mon.
Maybe it's a just a friend . . . It would be nice to see The Pitch use the classic, reactionary, "I have a lot of friends who are ______"
Or maybe it's just a photo they yanked off the net . . . If so, what's the message The Pitch is trying to send with this image? Looking at the avatar only at face value . . . The only thing that's clear is there's a person of color smiling on behalf of a overwhelmingly white "alternative" publication with a record of running mostly hit pieces against any minority who dares disagree with their clueless, liberal worldview.
And for a second, let's talk about their "Killa City" subcategory for their blog posts related to violence.
The term "Killa City" was coined by denizens of hip-hop culture in order to note this city's high murder rate . . . The Pitch has now re-purposed the term so that middle-class, mostly white hipsters can create overly sensational blog posts on the subject of metro violence. These hipster d-bags have very little in common with the folks who originally thought up the term and as far as I know, attending a second tier J-School doesn't provide any "street cred" in this town.
But I could care less about their blog posts . . . Mostly because they aren't very widely read.
However . . .
TKC DEMANDS THAT THE PITCH REMOVE THE INSULTING AVATAR ON THEIR TWITTER ACCOUNT BECAUSE IT IS UNREPRESENTATIVE OF THEIR STAFF AND SEEMS TO MOCK PEOPLE OF COLOR!!!
Of course these hypocrite liberals will deny any form of their own, obvious bigotry.
I'm actually looking forward to them digging up some sellout in order to explain away their insensitive avatar . . . As if co-opting some poor, loser makes everything alright.
Or maybe they should just keep it up . . . It's a clear indication to Kansas City's minority community of how The Pitch views brown people.
So would making him look like he was tough or a thug be ok?
ReplyDeletehahaha...negro be funnnny!!!
ReplyDeleteIs that Fred Sanford?
ReplyDeleteState of the Line is about as original as shit that has been chewed up, swallowed, digested, and shit out again.
ReplyDeleteOh, and about as funny.
I like those guys. But I think they write for The Pitch. The styles just seem sort of similar.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog, but the race shit is out of control. Your looking way to hard at stuff. You don't even know who this guy is but your offended. wtf, is that all about?
ReplyDeleteare you really OFFENDED? I mean, did you see that and actually get upset about how people might view your (actually, not your) race? Or did you just see an opportunity to call someone racist?
ReplyDeleteIn that case, I'm offended by all these fake-ass white women all over your page every day.
Actually, wait -- I don't give a shit, and I never have. But once I hear you complain about other people's blog avatars/images being "insensitive," I can't help but laugh, dog.
The idea of "whiteness" is just a political tool: http://www.wimp.com/bigideas/
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the link and saw only a teddy bear. Am I missing something, or has the Pitch already covered their asses?
ReplyDeleteThey changed it just that fast. I clicked on it at around 11:30 a.m. and the teddy bear was not there, but the pic in this post was.
ReplyDeleteFALSE OUTRAGE!!!
ReplyDeleteHOW DARE THEY BE INSENSITIVE I AM A PERSON OF COLOR!
I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE OFFENDED AT THIS OUTRAGE!
HOW INSENSITIVE!
ha,ha!!! nigger be nigger!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that's clear is there's a person of color smiling on behalf of a overwhelmingly white "alternative" publication.
ReplyDeleteThis statement suggests that the Pitch employs blacks as well as whites. So what if the avatar was a smiling black guy. You're the fucking piece of shit racist that turns everything into something controversial. You're a piece of shit on the bottom of my shoe... you dumb man-boobed spic

ReplyDeleteMan that whole post was really lame. Is The Pitch worth talking about? That's an honest question. Why don't you pretend you are in a Spike Lee movie and go on one big racial/hipster rant, get it all out of your system and be done with it. I love females but aren't sexy pics of them the hallmark of a blog that's not worth checking. Blog on brother I'll check in with you again in three months.
