STANDOFF!!! KANSAS CITY PRESS HAD TO FIGHT TO GET ACCESS TO A CITY HALL QUORUM DETAILING MAYOR FUNKY'S LAZY SCHEDULE!!!
There was a big ruckus today at City Hall that once again speaks to Mayor Funky's initial unwillingness to practice the kind of "transparency" that he had promised while running for office.
The Mayor held a meeting of committee chairs today.
Word is, The Star's DeAnn Smith was PISSED that the press was not initially able to attend given The Sunshine Law etc., etc.
Apparently . . . Part of the meeting was related to the Mayor's Staff presenting a schedule probably related to upcoming budget talks with BIG CHUNKS MARKED OFF WHEN MAYOR FUNKY WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE!!!
Here's the kicker:
FOR THE MOST PART, FRIDAYS THROUGH WEDNESDAYS MAYOR FUNKY IS NOT GOING TO BE IN CONTACT WITH THE CITY COUNCIL AND MAYBE NOT IN KANSAS CITY AT ALL!!!
Think about this . . .
In this economy, would anyone be able to dictate the hours of their job in this manner? Who gets to show up to work for only around 4 hours a day?
While Kansas City is embroiled in the biggest budget crisis that it has faced in more than a generation . . . The Mayor is marking off time that he can spend at his cabin.

Memo to Wayne--save the city some money by cutting the mayor's office budget. No more spending money on employees' college tuition, reduce all salaries over $50,000, no more car allowance(since Funk doesn't go to work often enough to earn it), etc. Actually, Funk shows that we don't really need a mayor...
