The Sprint Center hates Mayor Funky too

Another great article from DeAnn Smith regarding Mayor Funky's bumbling at the behest of his wife:
Former Funkhouser communications director Joe Miller told Prime Buzz that Gloria Squitiro, the mayor’s wife, was no fan of Sprint Center general manager Brenda Tinnen dating back to the opening of the Sprint Center and more recently a light-rail press event.

Squitiro “was upset that Tinnen denied their request for the mayor to introduce Garth Brooks” when he kicked off his nine-concert series at the Sprint Center, Miller wrote in an e-mail . . . In addition, Miller had developed the idea for a news conference in October to promote light rail’s impact on downtown. The news conference was conceived to be held inside the Sprint Center, but Tinnen rejected that.
To be fair, I have no idea why either Mayor Funky or former Mayor Kay Barnes would think that Garth Brooks would want or need their introduction.

Still . . . Count this as YET ANOTHER instance in which Co-Mayor Gloria Squitiro pretty much made Mayoral decisions . . . And this comes after Co-mayor Funkhouser swore in a church that he could do his job without his wife. Obviously, that statement was incorrect.

  1. I thought the Funk said he earned his reputation and could do his job without her? Or that was when he was KC Auditor? Well, turns out that their Grand Adventure at taxpayers expense has been at a great cost to them... he went from being a well respected bureaucrat to a hated, humiliated and despised jerkweeed. She went from being a nobody to even less than that.

  3. Well cudos to Tinnen she has enough smarts to know that any use of public property for promoting a ballot proposal is illegal, of course that never stops Funky.
