KC's Holiday Concern = Nobody really cares

It just occurred to me that all of this belabored moaning and bitching about Kansas City's messed up budget fits in perfectly with the X-mas season.

Overwrought budget talk and feigning interest in what other people think was Mayor Funky's X-mas prank on this town. Notice there was no real commitment to any solid plan and most newsies left with the impression that it was nothing but another PR stunt . . . Only the handful of dimwits in the crowd who weren't there representing a corporate interest or politician got suckered into sacrificing good shopping, sleeping or work time.

It's not a new tactic, during the holiday season Kansas City also pretends to care about:

  • The Homeless

  • The working poor

  • Other people's beliefs

  • Baby Jesus

  • Crime

  • Cutting back on drunk driving

  • Family

  • For the most part, these interests occupy little bits of human interest coverage during the year but they aren't what really drive the news.

    Put simply:

MAYOR FUNKY HAS SPENT MOST OF THIS YEAR FIGHTING FOR HIS WIFE AND ONLY TRIED TO RECLAIM HIS "SMART WITH THE MONEY" CREDENTIALS DURING A HOLIDAY BREAK!!!

It's misleading, cynical and typical "leadership" (or lack thereof) from Kansas City's Co-Mayor. Any half-way observant City Hall watcher knows that Council Lady Deb Hermann has been in the lead as far as the WORK going into the upcoming budget debate. Meanwhile, Kansas City is stuck with a Mayor who has put more planning into a defense of his wife's right to run barefoot through the 29th floor than any concern for Kansas City's finances.

    1. There was no jesus, and no god for that matter. It's all mindless poppycock based on fear and punishment.

    2. Where is Rus Johnson when we need him. He can figure this out, Nothing can stop the Mensa Man! He shouldn't get depressed about losing the Light Rail Vote. He was up against the best theis town has to offer.
Is he still a city councilman? Did he just slide quietly into the night?
