I wanted to make sure I put this out there because it's been on my mind for a couple of days.
Over the past few weeks, we've seen the Mayor's public image stripped away. He's no longer the TIF Fighter, Tireless Auditor, Principled politico . . . Mayor Mark Funkhouser is just another beleaguered politician with screwed up priorities. However, it was a recent passage on the Mayor's blog that got me thinking.
Now that I have settled with Ms. Bates for a nominal sum of city money instead of incurring substantial amounts of attorney's fees, I hope the City Council will put aside politics and put the City’s financial interests first and foremost. Now, the settlement is pretty much an admission of guilt, it's a flip-flop on previous statements and it cost this town. More importantly . . .
MAYOR FUNKY REFERS TO 30K AS IF IT'S CHUMP CHANGE AND FAILS TO REALIZE THAT A GREAT MANY OF HIS CONSTITUENTS DON'T MAKE THAT KIND OF MONEY IN A YEAR!!!
During this economic downward spiral, Mayor Funky has quizzically abandoned the last vestiges of his "regular folks" propaganda and throws around tens of thousands of dollars as if it was nothing. There's no doubt he is nothing but a politician now. I think the Mayor's statement is important because it reveals that he never believed talk of "regular folks" he was never "smart with the money" somebody who possessed those qualities could never refer to 30k as a "nominal sum" that kind of talk is tantamount to a betrayal of the "principles" he trumpeted upon his entry into office. It's a typical lack of real concern for "regular folks" that is epitomized by the last remaining hipsters and other d-bags who still casually support his incompetence.
Few of us can afford to casually give away 30k. The Mayor's quote reveals that isn't such a big concern for him nowadays.
Damn I want to give those a pull.
ReplyDeleteHe's a big man with the Peoples Money our Mayor, Smart With Nothinghouser.
ReplyDeleteHey Santino, you left out the cost of the Cauthen Lawsuit... turns out that the lawyer retained actually wants a lot of money. I thought, or we were orginally told, that he was working for free... another BS from a Mayor who is full of sh-t.
ReplyDeleteThe City Volunteer Ordinance... I wonder of that pro bono lawyer will ask for fees too???? Just wanted to put this out there for the record.
ReplyDeleteTony it looks like you forced him to take down his new web site.
ReplyDeleteFunkhouser should resign. Maybe he will after he hears the Joe Miller interview, which, by the way, includes mention of Tony and his Mom.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't this guy just resign already?
ReplyDeletewhat was the link to the new website?
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they don't just die of embarrassment, but I guess their egos protect them--
ReplyDeleteFinance committee tomorrow could be interesting.
Actually and more precisely it is the defense of their egos and the delusional world they have put themselves in that protect them. My guess is that each of the Gruesome Twosome is a low self esteem, low self image individual. They are fighting very hard to not let reality intrude into their world.
ReplyDeletewhich councilwoman will be the next Mayor?
ReplyDeleteAm bored, kids asleep, so was listening to the excellent Bill Grady interview. Tony: Did you catch the part where Miller says Gloria told him that the mayor's goal was to only work 3 8 hour days a week??!! Tuesday, Wed, Fri, with Monday and Friday off/open so THAT HE COULD WORK ON HIS CONSULTING BUSINESS (a little past 2/3 way through part 1). Kaboom!
ReplyDeleteFunk is nothing but a part timer.
ReplyDeleteFuck the cocksucker Mark Funkhouser.
ReplyDeleteFuck the cocksucker Gloria Squitiro.
Fuck them both.
Fuck them individually.
Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them.
Cheap white trailer trash is all they are.
Now, the settlement is pretty much an admission of guilt
ReplyDeleteI disagree 100%. Whatever you think of the individuals here, in many cases it makes sense to settle for a nominal fee rather than go through the long and arduous task of trial, at considerable trouble and expense.
Especially when you're talking about the city's time and money like we are in this case.
An admission of guilt could be part of the settlement, but realistically would more than likely not be.
The fact that you don't want to bother with it doesn't mean you assent to their arugment.
...and, in terms of discrimination suits or whatever he would be facing, my guess is that 30k is a pretty good number to come up with considering they are obviously guilty.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mark on his first point. I think Tony might have been thinking in a political sense but these things get spun so much by both sides. Settling instead of an expensive fight is sometimes the best move for everyone.
ReplyDeleteBeth would make a good Mayor.
ReplyDeleteWhich Beth?
ReplyDeleteHe has the same virus that Rus Johnson has. Remember Rus wanted to spend over a Billion on a train ride from one mall to another "soon to be built mall". In fact he heartily encouraged some folks to not help defeat Light Rail in addition to his personal opinion. His method of appealing to peoples fear was not correct behavior, and inflamed some voters to change their votes from Yes to NO helping to defeat the bogus proposal.
ReplyDeleteTwo weeks later he is "worried" about spending money that might result in bankrupting Kansas City. Maybe he caught it from Funky.
Yea what has happened to our most brilliant really smart mensa member. Has he started staying home like the Funk. Is it Russel or Russler that is abbreviated Rus or is short for that other mental giant Rush/ What is the difference between Rus and Russ?
