I don't know why but local media love to portray this cowtown as some kind of island of prosperity.
Nothing could be further from reality.
Local TV news keeps reporting lame job fairs but the fact remains that competition for any kind of decent employment (unrelated to porn) is at an all time high. A quick article from the KC biz journal clearly demonstrates local job seeking despair:
"We have white-collar and blue-collar workers in the system," said Clyde McQueen, director of the Full Employment Council. "I’ve been through about four of these down trends in the past, and it was always more isolated into one sector or another. This one is hitting everywhere."So while lazy media is desperately trying sell the notion that we've hit bottom . . . It's good to see that there are experts in town who can clearly analyze cold, hard employment data and dispel overly optimistic reporting . . . Like the misguided notion that the U.S. has won in Iraq.
Bob Marcusse, CEO of the Kansas City Area Development Council, said the organization is watching unemployment numbers closely.
"Kansas City is certainly not immune to what is happening nationally and internationally,"
All cities (including KC) that are being overrun by illegal mexicans are feeling the economic crisis you scum
