TKC TIPSTERS STAND UP!!! . . . Another, very intelligent and informed opinion about why Mayor Funky's rumored Jeff Roe hire won't happen was sent my way from one of the most intelligent TKC Tipsters out there . . . I really didn't even want to translate this into bloggy speak because it's so well written. Check it:
Say light rail passes. That means the Funk will need to go after just south of $600 million from the Feds to make his train set work. The only man who can deliver that kind of cash is the Prince of Pork, Kit Bond, working with his good friend the Earl of Earmarks, Congressman Cleaver. (Sure, Sam Graves is on the Transportation Committee House-side, but when was the last time he delivered a bridge with his name on it?)This is great stuff and rings true to me . . . Also, what I like is that . . .
So to tackle this daunting challenge the Funk proposes bringing in a man so hated by Senator Bond he basically risked his career to get a US Attorney fired because he wouldn't help get Roe out of his own brothers office. Wonder how that will go over?
So not only would that piss off every Democrat in a Democratic controlled town...BUT piss off the ONE Republican he absolutely needs to make light rail work. Once again he makes a decision that only makes crazy conservatives north of the river happy

Heaven knows Mayor Funky's reasoning and I don't dismiss the rumor out of hand because Mayor Funky is an expert at career suicide . . . But it's nice to see Internet denizens take on this subject with far more skepticism and insight than Kansas City's paper of record provided . . . It almost reminds me of how internet powered Wikipedia is still flawed but a lot more accurate than so-called experts would care to admit.
This TKC Tipster is right. It would be a stupid decision on part of both the Mayor and Roe. Jeff is involved in almost every political campaign on one side or another, he would be conflicted out of alot of work if he were to take on a position with the Mayor.
ReplyDeleteWhat we're not considering is the drama-driven personality of both of these men. They both LOVE to be in the middle of the storm and on the front page of the paper. I'm not sure reason or logic apply in this situation. It could be a perfect firestorm guaranteeing both of them would stay in the theatre, because that's what its really all about. Neither of these men really care about their reputations, public perception or what impact their actions today may have on a situation tomorrow. They would be great partners in slime.
Your tipster obviously has a well working brain. But it is expecting a lot to think that the Funk will get that stuff put together in his head in a year of good coffee in the morning and good beer at night.

so much for him not screwing up it is Roe all the way. Isn't Roe actually in reality slimy fish eggs.
It would be nice if Kit Bond and Rev Cleaver were willing to help clean out my basement when the city's sewer backs into it. But, the train is far more important than the public health.
