KANSAS CITY MURDER RATE KILLS LOCAL CONDO MARKET!!!

There was a time, not so long ago, in Kansas City's history when it was thought that luxury condos signaled a "renaissance" in urban development and rich white people would revive the urban core.

Just like so many other fantasies about local real estate, that rumor turned out to be a lie.

What Kansas City is left with now is a great many expensive and empty lots of vacant real estate . . . One Park Place in Kansas City is a prime example. According to a great many real estate experts in the area, the high priced condos with expensive views of the Kansas City skyline simply aren't selling. However, the few tenants who now occupy the place got quite a show last night. Because so many local newsies are new to the area, live in Johnson County or don't really care . . . There weren't many people who noted:

RESIDENTS OF ONE PARK PLACE LOOKING OUT OF THEIR WINDOWS LAST NIGHT MIGHT HAVE SEEN A MAN BEATEN TO DEATH AT PENN VALLEY PARK ALONG WITH THE ENSUING AFTERMATH OF POLICE SIRENS IN THE SHADOW OF KANSAS CITY'S MOST EXPENSIVE CONDOS!!!

News reports didn't really make a big deal of this fact but I think it's worth noting because of the connection to Kansas City's real estate market and the overall quality of life in this town. Also, the scuttlebutt (ew) on the non luxury or dog park denizens of Penn Vally Park seems to be that it's a hangout for teh ghey prostitution after dark . . . NO HOMO (!!!) for knowing that one but neighbors complain very loudly about seeing so many JoCo license plates in the southern Westside area up to no good.

In the final analysis, gentrification is harder than it looks and it seems that the urban core of Kansas City won't be re-populated with luxury condos occupied by the upper class any time soon. Instead the reality of the situation is that the out of control murder rate is one big factor out of many that's killing hope of a renaissance and people who paid for million dollar views of the Kansas City skyline must now look out upon one of many local murder scenes.

  1. I wonder if they're offering a discount.

  2. Yes they are...they cut prices about 20%...And there's still only 7 condos sold in the building...

  3. I considered buying here for the amenities and the view, but opted against it because there is nothing to do around it... well, I guess you could walk to Mama's at your own risk.

  4. Dude that is so true about the JOCO plates.
I see plenty of JOCO tags on Blue River rd. I used take the kids to ride their BMX & mountian around there. Up until a 8yr old rides up on two guys screwing in the woods.
Fukkin queers get a dam hotel room you sick pluckers.

  6. True, before they dead ended that street behind Park Place you could keep a running tally of white JOCO males parked in Lexus's back there behind the Skate Park.

  7. That park has been known for lewd and sketchy activity for years. I am surpised the developers did not do their homework on this and realize that fact before developing.

  8. Tony, who's payin' you to write one boring murder/death/kidnapping/crime post after another? Move on. It's tired.

  9. The 20% price cut is pure marketing hype - they jacked the prices up before loading in the discount.

  10. We get it already.
Black thugs are killing other black thugs (and occassional white womens).

  14. Not sure why Tony has such a hard on for One Park Place but people do tend to feel very strongly about things they know little about! a friend of mine bought there and loves it.

As for facts; 22 units sold not 7, police presence has curtailed night time activity in the park considerably and (if anyone actually pays attention to the news) the killing was was of a man who tried to break up a fight and was beaten to death. Police have suspects in custody.
