TKC's RAPIO Talk!!!

This afternoon at the MARC building downtown I did a quick talk for RAPIO . . . Which, unfortunately isn't as dirty as it sounds.

Rapio actually means: Regional Association of Public Information Officers.

I wasn't as polished as I would have liked even though I put at least 3 hours of prep time into it . . . But I thought it turned out well and what was very encouraging to me is that this group had a real interest in local blogging and its impact on the discourse in the Kansas City area.

My favorite part was the question and answer period . . . Unlike most Kansas City bloggers, these folks weren't at all embarrassed to ask advice as to the best way to build traffic, engage the local blogosphere and create captivating online content.

We talked about a great many subjects but I felt like folks were most interested in:

  • Efficient ways to follow blogs like Bloglines.com

  • Folks who use blog as one of their main sources of information and how users in general find information on blogs i.e. Google Blog Search, Technorati et al.

  • And there was some basic wonderment about how much time I spend writing this blog and tap dancing for you d-bags.

It was fun time and I learned a lot as well . . . I might have another speaking gig coming up in a few more weeks but, surprisingly, getting out of the basement and talking to people about blogs in Kansas City was exceptionally fun.

  • THANKS SO MUCH TO THIS GROUP FOR GIVING ME A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH THEM!!!

    7. Do not share you knowledge with these guys. The corporate and government and quasi government folks want to know how to neutralize or utilize blogs to promote or protect themselves. MARC is looking for such information and training. they are recruiting light rail advocates to respond to bloggers using the bloggers own site. They don't worry about your buddies at the Star. All they need now is neutralize the bloggers.

    10. Great way to remove any influence you ever had Tony. Watch and see what happens to your truthful comments on Light rail now. They know that the C.A.V.E. have gptten good at second guessing the blog comments.
